We have the young, immature striker who needs improvement but has showed good quality infront of goal already.

Then we have the experienced striker who’s happy to play whatever role he’s told who has showed consistently he can score goals at a decent rate.

They only shared the field for a short while the whole season and one was always present I think. So 17 goals is the equivalent of a single striker in play for every minute of the season, which isnt a bad return by any means.

Puts Beto 8th for players scoring 8 or more goals. Factor in allowing Barry a period of settling in and getting off the mark and once that happened he was probably similar to Beto.

So overall the goal return was ok. Its just the other stuff we expect from a modern forward.

Barry isnt shite, hes OK. But I wanted more than that, so felt disappointed with the season he had. Its been a long time since we struck gold with a striker.

17 is a great return for your strike force when you don’t create good chances with any consistency.

Fix the build-up play, let the two of them get on with running in behind the defense and prowling the six-yard box, and watch that number go up.

I maintain that Delap would be a better option than both for the smash it into the channel for the striker to battle for nonsense that Moyes tends to peddle.

Would be better to become a good footballing side that creates clean chances for strikers.

I think the best pro-Grealish argument is that he is the singular player who made Moyes feel emboldened to actually play on the deck last season. Once he went, it got industrial really quickly.

Rom was the only one we've had do it, once in the last 40 years.

Think we've only had a few score more than 15 a season over that time.

There’s not much difference in quality between Delap and Beto, however one is towards the end of his career with no hope of improving (and 12 months left) and the other with his career ahead of him.

I’d be happy offloading Beto and replacing with Delap and see how we go.

Thelwell, for all his critics, would probably have attempted this already.
