It's not unreasonable for him to want the money his contract says but it's a lot more than he's currently worth. Why should we take over city's problem and pay them 3m for the privilege on top. Too many clubs have been in a rush to get the top teams out of their poor deals. When we were richer we seemed to be first in the queue to make these rotten deals.

We are paying 5m a year for the loan of Lindstrom, Philips is more established and proven in the league. Its a risk based on what he did at West Ham, but we clearly arent thinking he'd replicate that form. Im sure Cities stance will soften the closer we get to the close of the window, but hes going to cost 7.5m minimum, which isnt that bad, imo

Also the difference between him and Lindstrom is buying Phillips would probably be beyond us given his wages fee and age. So it's not even a loan with a realistic view to buying
