Another behind closed doors friendly tomorrow for those who didn't play didn't and returning from injury.
Overall disappointing, same problems Canada has had for 2 years - inability to create and score from open play.
Still should have won which makes it disappointing but oh well. Some good minutes for returning players.
Biggest issue is still our 2 best players (Davies and Bombito) not playing. I just cant imagine them making the group stage at this point.
Add to that we have 2 others who are still not back in full training, and another 3 or 4 who are still getting back fit after injuries it's not ideal.
It does give a chance to a few other players. Draw or win against Bosnia opening match and we should be getting out of the group.

Yeah we were in Melbourne for six months and Australia for just over a year. We didn't watch the Croatia game as there's a large Croatian population in Melbourne and we were warned it may get a bit nasty (it didn't). A group of us watched England lose to Portugal on pens in a bar after watching Coldplay at the Rod Laver. Let's just say I preferred watching England lose.
We watched the Italy game in Docklands, you were definitely robbed, we were gutted for you. I didn't think Australia would put on a good show for the World Cup and with stupid kick off times it would be flat, but the atmosphere in Melbourne and how Aussies got into it made it a really memorable one for me. Aside from that Coldplay gig ffs.
Ah that sounds brilliant (except the Coldplay bit, agreed).
The traditional media are still very anti-ethnic and anti anything that might challenge the status quo of the 'preferred' sports of AFL and NRL. Not surprised they 'thought' it'd get rough, anything to bring the game down, as you probably saw in your time.
Yeah to support the sport here beyond/above the national competitions you've got to be a bit mad or an insomniac or both. Some know how to party - especially the many cultures within. It's fantastic. Melbourne is the Mecca.
Euro 2004 and Greece was very memorable where I was - a very small Greek community but uproarious celebrations throughout town at 'stupid AM' as if we were in Athens, or Melbourne! Carhorns, flags, flares, and great food and drink.
Haven't experienced being in another country during a major competition - a bit envious TBH, if the local scene is this good.

Yeah, you know they have a model of that thing with a machine gun mounted to it already.
Anyone playing nearby, with a 460cc Titanium Driver, or maybe even a Louisville Slugger?

@Cantoffee I'll be pretty shocked if you don't make it out of the groups mate. Probably only need 1 win and you've got Qatar, Switzerland and Bosnia in 3 home matches.

Yes likely only need 1 win and Qatar are awful.
I think Bosnia are better than their ranking though. Switzerland the best team in the group.
