Story in one of the papers today that we are leading the chase at 40 million would be the most Everton thing ever to pay Chelsea more than the paid for a flop
Easy to lead the chase when you are the only club seemingly interested.

When we're getting slated left right and centre for low balling every offer we've made - Hackney being the main one - I very much doubt we'll offer that

There’s not much difference in quality between Delap and Beto, however one is towards the end of his career with no hope of improving (and 12 months left) and the other with his career ahead of him.
I’d be happy offloading Beto and replacing with Delap and see how we go.
Thelwell, for all his critics, would probably have attempted this already.
would rather offload barry than beto
keep beto as an impact sub

Context though, they paid his release clause, not his market value. He was in high demand when he signed for them, and realistically was worth a fair bit more at the time.
I don't want him, and think he's average btw

12 years according to some post Everton have put on Instagram, 12 years today we signed Lukaku permanently.
Bit at the bottom asks what’s your favourite memory….
That he could score goals

He's 23, I actually thought he was 25.
Ok so he is young but I do think some fans act like he is 19.

Liked delap at ipswitch...step up was too much though....chelsea going through a bad transition last year put him under real pressure....also getting injured didn't do his case any good....the crowd pressure must've been immense....image what it would be like here after 4/5 games and no goals...
sadly one not for me.....GET A RIGHT BACK IN INSTEAD....(would probably score more goals too....oooh harsh)

Can't we just sign the guy who scored a few goals when Luton were in the premier league
