Shame he got a lap at an empty stadium but that's on his teammates and the manager really.
Not a popular opinion in the slightest but I think Coleman as a player we should have replaced 8 years ago and the fact he even got an extra year for this season was a naive decision from the club.
I get not wanting to give it up but it's a bit mad he wants to continue playing given he's so obviously finished as a player.

How many stayed for “ the lap of honour”?

Let down by his manager team mates and fans while he looks on stoically, unable to effect the result.
In a sad way it’s the perfect send off, the unfortunate honour to captain us through some of our worst sides in history, and has carried himself as well as anyone could.
Good bye and godbless, will always be a hero to me.

The scenes of empty stands as he says his goodbye with his kids in tow are an absolute disgrace btw

Yea it's a really bad look. 17 years here and basically an empty stadium as his goodbye.

Unless he's been doing some experimental stem cell treatment or something no way will he play much in the PL next season.

Yeah, I feel really bad for him but it's hard to blame the fans really. I left at full time, partly in anger and partly to get to the boat home nice and early. I thought there would be a lap of honour and that he'd maybe be at the front of it, I had no idea they were planning a specific tribute to him post match.
I can't honestly say that we definitely would have stayed had we known they were doing that, but it would have been nice to have known and had to think about it at least.

Think it's quite poor form the club, I know there's usually a lap of honour after the last game but apparently there was no specific announcement that there would be a tribute to Seamus, I think more people would have stayed although you'd expect the club to do something anyway so maybe they just thought the fans would stay. Poor all round I suppose to see him paraded in front of a near empty stadium.

The club are very out of touch at the minute. We're losing at home to Sunderland, they bring on Coleman with 5 minutes to go and the screen has "60 grand 60 grand Seamus Coleman" on it prompting people to sing like we're 4-0 up.
Sunday was very annoying all around. They should have brought Coleman out before the match or had a testimonial for him in the summer.

Fans have to take some account for it too. Too many times this season people have filed out of the stadium early. I know it's when we were sucking bad, but when did our fans become such fair weather fans? That horrible game against Newcastle, the stadium was 30% empty by 70 minutes.
I understand about travel issues, but the optics of an early emptying stadium that happens frequently make us look a bit shit tbh.

Couple of lads at football tonight saying it was a disgrace on Sunday.
United fans....saying very disrespectful of Everton fans.

I've seen some shouts on socials for a post season friendly against Sligo to give him a proper send off.
