No, let him keep ripping it up in the Championship for the rest of the season. Senior minutes in the legs and proper development in a very competitive league. Will do him no end of good. This doesn't take in to account how young players tend to not be consistent and have form slumps, there's every chance at some point this season he spends some time on the Preston bench because almost all youngsters suffer from spells of inconsistency and need to be taken out for periods for their own good.

If he plays at the level he currently is all season then brilliant as it means he'll definitely be ready to be a key figure for us next season, but if not he's in a less pressurised environment where it doesn't matter as much.

It was only a couple of games ago their fans said whilst he was amazing in the second half he was pretty poor in the first... You don't get that luxury at Premier League level as we've seen with Barry... Play poorly first half and you get hooked at half time.

We hopefully have this lad performing for us at a high level for many years so let's give him this one to develop, make mistakes, have fluctuations on form and figure it all out so we get the best version of him for future seasons.

I think we just have different opinions on him as a player and character. Listen to any interview with him or watch his performances and it's clear he's ready for any level imo. He's not like Barkley or Gordon at that age who seems like youth players just happy to be around the squad.

If you compare Armstrong to Iroebugnam then you'd think their ages were the other way around.

Nothing wrong with a season at Preston given Moyes would have just had him on the bench but I don't think he actually needed a season on loan. He's ready now. Excited to see him bossing it for us next season, even if I think it's a shame that isn't happening already.

I would say you are right in terms of maturity. But let him rack up some experience to go with it and he’ll be all the stronger for it.

The most important thing a young player with clear and obvious talent must learn is how to deal with an unexpected sudden drop in form. Given what we've seen in the past few years from us the fans, how many of you would say Everton is a good place for someone to go through their first dip?
