Looking for advice after moving a parent into a care home? I've put together a free resource.

I know this is slightly off-topic for Everton, but I also know there are a lot of us on here who are looking after elderly parents or have been through the care home journey.

After spending years managing care homes as a registered nurse, I've started putting together a free advice website to help families understand what they're actually looking at.

Things like:

* How to choose a good care home.
* The difference between residential and nursing care.
* Dementia myths and what to expect.
* Visiting someone with dementia.
* Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding.
* Lasting Power of Attorney and other practical advice.

There's no subscription, no paywall and no AI-generated clickbait. It's based on what I've seen over many years working inside care homes and what families ask every day.

If it helps even one person avoid choosing the wrong home or understand what's happening with a loved one, it'll have been worth building.

If anyone has suggestions for topics they'd like covered, let me know.

The website is **https://www.carentis.co.uk**.

My only suggestion is: when I went through this with my mother no one told me how “personally” to handle this ie: what to expect…
I couldn’t find anything at the time to explain how to handle the illness..ie I’d forget she couldn’t remember things and I would say things like remember when……she would say things like when lived in Scotland….and I would reply mam we never lived in Scotland….
It took some time for me to realise and learn my mistakes….
