The general feeling is that German football fans are well looked after. Whether that's ticket prices or food and beer. They do generally play in front of full stadiums too, so getting a ticket might not be straightforward.

As long as you aren’t attempting to get in a particular part of the ground (Dortmund’s yellow wall for example) or for a massive fixture then tickets are generally easy to get and fairly cheap though not as cheap as they used be. Atmosphere has always been good next the main home fan section (except Hertha Berlin) and prices in the stadium aren’t bad. Not cheap exactly but not extortionate like at some venues over here and the quality is decent (I still think about the amount of currywurst I’ve eaten over there at games).

Never had any issue with fans and had a few friendly conversations at stadiums or bars.

Hertha Berlin - I went when they were in BS[emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]], game was shit and as they played at the Olympic stadium it was way too big for them therefore the atmosphere suffered. Luckily it was in Berlin so the city made up for it and it was cool getting to visit the Olympic stadium and it’s nice around there so on the walk from the station to the stadium there were lots of people selling beers and bratwurst. I’d recommend visiting Berlin but not for the Hertha.

Werder Bremen - Nice little town and you have a nice walk along the river to get from the centre to the stadium. Would only recommend a weekend and nothing more as it’s not massive but plenty of nice places to eat and drink. The footy was good and so was the atmosphere, nice little stadium. The Becks Brewery is in Bremen and worth a tour if you like lager, they do a local version (Haacke Beck) which is much nicer than the shit they export.

Monchengladbach & Leverkusen - Grouped these together as I did both when I stayed in Dusseldorf. I would recommend Düsseldorf as a base, has a great pedestrianised centre with loads of food and drink options and is within about [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]] mins of about [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]]]] different clubs. We stayed here and then used the train to get to Monchengladbach on the Friday night before going to Leverkusen on the Saturday. Monchengladbach is a shithole of an industrial town with nothing there, the stadium itself is nice and it was a good game with a good atmosphere but if you are going to go stay somewhere else and just travel in/out for the game. We got the train early, walked around for [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]]] minutes for a nice bar and then ended up back where we started and just went to the bar opposite the station (which was decent tbf there was just nowhere else). They provide free shuttle buses from the station to the stadium. Leverkusen was good, nice walk through the park from the station to the stadium with loads of people selling beers on the way. Again was a good atmosphere with decent fans and we had a good game to watch.

I’d recommend having a look at a few of the club ticketing websites first and seeing how easy they are to navigate and attempt dummy purchases for games currently available so you can see how they work. I wasn’t bothered about who I went to see, I just picked a few weekends which worked and then looked at the fixtures to see which I fancied.
