Anyone been, and if so where did you go?
Bundesliga 1 or 2 or lower division?
Assuming some of the bigger clubs sell out, did you find ticket availability was ok?
How was it, the atmosphere, price of a pint, standard of footy, the fans?

I've not been, but would be interested in anyone's opinion who has, I'd love to go. Done some digging into it last year for a few days away with my mates and prices where very cheap for tickets for the 1st division games and looked easy enough to get

Many years ago, yes, early 90's on a German school exchange trip.
Eintracht Frankfurt v Kaiserslautern
Remember Tony Yeboah, Jay Jay Okocha and Andy Brehme playing.
The general feeling is that German football fans are well looked after. Whether that's ticket prices or food and beer. They do generally play in front of full stadiums too, so getting a ticket might not be straightforward.

No idea what happened with my reply, it was fine when I typed it out but once submitted it went weird. Will reply on my laptop when I get a chance.
In essence, I’ve been to a few German games and would recommend Düsseldorf as a base.

These are actually the two teams I'm pinning my hopes on seeing!
Not sure if we'll be able to without membership, hoping that they go to a general sale, so had signed up to both of their websites and am attempting to learn the language in double quick time haha!

Thanks
@Macca24, appreciate the information and tips. I guess its likely dependent upon the status/popularity of the fixtures but did you have any issues at all getting tickets?
Did you buy them before you visited, or when you got there? We're just a bit wary of buying resale/ebay/viagogo, would prefer to get them from the club or reputable sources directly, and we're hoping to have them before we got there, as it may influence where and when we travel. Whether we can is another matter I guess. Was kind of hoping we didn't have to get membership and still run the risk of missing out.
Edit: Sorry, just saw your points at the start of your post, was distracted by the emojis

I’ve only ever got them direct from the clubs (using a bit of google translate and GCSE German…). Bought them before we went just to ensure we had tickets and never had an issue although I wasn’t targeting top clubs or big fixtures.
I’d recommend having a look at a few of the club ticketing websites first and seeing how easy they are to navigate and attempt dummy purchases for games currently available so you can see how they work. I wasn’t bothered about who I went to see, I just picked a few weekends which worked and then looked at the fixtures to see which I fancied.

Thanks, sounds like a good plan, will check as the games are hopefully released on the websites and see how we go.
