I want Spurs to win, only because Ange will be proper on one about how he was right all along, how he always wins a trophy in the second season, then doubling down even further on his flawed philosophy and getting sacked six games in to the new season.

Nothing better than watching someone fall on their own sword of arrogance and false self belief.

It's funny that even in their 'bad' period post Ferguson, they've still managed:

2015 FA Cup
2017 League Cup
2017 Europa League
2023 League Cup
2024 FA Cup

You can throw in

2018 FA Cup final
2021 Europa League final
2023 FA Cup final

The whatever comes from the Europa League final this season.

I'd settle for this sort of drought.

In fairness it takes an awful lot of wrong decisions to exhaust the financial advantage they had over most. Even now, what, 10 15 years on they'll still get another chance this window. They'll still he able to spend double more than half the teams in the league

Feels like we might be as much as another decade of them making a mess away from them not being able to compete financially with the other current rich teams

I still think Amorim is a good manager. Hoping he's sacked and goes on to better things.

The state of that Man United team. Maguire, Shaw and Casemiro starting a Europa League final for Man United in 2025. You don't look at their players and think they should be top 6 or anything, there aren't even many I would take at Everton.

Long may it continue.

They’re not 16th bad though.

It’s the same as dyche. It’s a bad team, but the manager is making them look even worse than they are.

I think a good manager gets them in the top 8 at the very least. Ten hag did it didn’t he and he was a joke.

Amorim's probably wishing he'd stuck to his guns and waited until the summer before he joined, they're an absolute shit show from top to bottom and there's something really toxic within the club at the moment.

I've said it before but I've always quiet liked Man Utd, a grudging respect for what they did under SAF and but for different circumstances as a 13 year old kid I might have started supporting them instead of Everton but now there's something thoroughly unlikeable about them and it's lovely to see them in so much turmoil.

The problem with Manchester United now is that they are the least attractive they have ever been in modern times, with the least money they've ever had at their disposal, with the worst squad they've had in their modern history. The hole they have been digging is getting deeper and deeper and there will come a point where the can't escape. I don't think they will be relegated next year (I wish), but I do think they will struggle to get into Europe.

Financially they are in a really bad place now, yes they might sell their best player to Saudi for big money, but would they replace him? Then you likely have Sancho and Rashford coming back on their huge contracts and the will only get Lindelof and Eriksen off their books who combined earn less than Casemiro (another player United are lumbered with).

The shining light for United is that Yoro, Garnacho, Diallo and Mainoo are very good young players, but it looks like at least Garnacho will be leaving of those anyway and Mainoo may follow to balance the books. Their recruitment has been so bad for so long, can they be trusted to get the right players in? Do they go all in on Amorim and buy players for his style (which I'm not convinced would work anyway, even with the so called right players) which a big risk too, if they were to sack him.

Most of all, I find the whole situation hilarious. After watching United dominate for the first 20 years that I followed football, I am bloody loving this.

As Gash says, he didn't want to come until the summer and you can see why. I'm sure he could have them higher but there's no point moving away from his 3-4-3 principles for the sake of finishing 8th.

Not convinced they'll get the players he needs but if they do then I think he does well there.

Too much of a mess off the pitch though and frankly they don't deserve anything good.

All this shit doesn't help either, it happens a lot but seems to be more at Man Utd that anywhere, players airing their dirty linen in public. Part of the modern game I guess and with players being expensive assets it's not like you can just fire them but it doesn't mean it's right for them to do it.

Guardian stating that they'll have a 100M transfer budget. Is it just me or does that seem not nearly enough for them to fix their issues. I mean, there's not going to be anything left if they come in for JB. ;)

That's a consideration not often afforded to other managers, who also have principles, and silverware, (even if the silverware could just as easily ended up with the opposition). ;)

I wouldn't be saying that if he was two years in the job and had them in the bottom 5 like.

I was chatting to my Man UTD supporting mate at our kids footy training tonight, he said they need to sign as a minimum the following positions this summer:

GK
RWB
DM
AM X2
ST

That's to play Amorin's 3-4-2-1 effectively.

He said even that if they recruited perfectly would still only get them at best challenging for 6th-8th.

You have to wonder how not qualifying for Europe will affect their ability to spend, and even then there's no way they can afford the £250m+ it'd take to fill all those positions with the required quality.

They've been linked with Mbeumo but he's likely to cost £60m+ so if they did sign him and Chunha for the same it's hard to see how they address the other areas.

They'll most likely give Amorin 2-3 players he needs but it won't be enough to effectively play his system, he'll be sacked after 6-10 games and hire someone who the new players aren't suitable for and they'll continue to go round in circles forever.

It's genuinely problematic for the club, to the point where maybe they won't go down next season, but there'll become a point done the line where they are in real danger of doing so.

They'll never be dominant again for the foreseeable. They'll still pick up the odd cup win but I can't see them getting relegated. Unless they massively got done for PSR
