The Rebuild

Re: The Rebuild
I'd be well fucked off if we signed Walker, he's a massive bellend and way past his best, less than impressive in Italy by all accounts as well. Got a bit of a wiff of the the Gazza, Ginola etc type of signing. Doesn't send out a great message to younger players either here or that we're looking to buy when players the wrong side of 35 are being signed and getting regular games.
Re: The Rebuild
I'm not a fan, but can see some reason behind it. I both dislike it and am reluctantly ok with it at the same time. Somehow.
Gap filler, leader mould as had been said. But I dunno who could bare listening to him revving up the first 11.

As another Striker-turned-Defender, he better turn out to be as good as Tarky has been for us.
He'll not be overlapping and flying up the wing, but we don't really do that either so much.
*Sigh*
Re: The Rebuild
Despite everything I said about Grealish, I feel V strongly that we should not sign Walker.
Re: The Rebuild
If this is the bar you're setting for any signings we make I have a feeling you're going to have a lot of disappointment moving forward
Re: The Rebuild
Let's face it we've managed ok with Ashley Young at RB and played a CB there and been ok... A 35 year old Kyle Walker isn't going to be worse, he'd be better, because he's a better RB than either even if his talents are on the wane.
This is the reality of our transfer situation, we've been linked with free RBs because we already have O'Brien and Patterson who can play there so we aren't going to spend what cash we do have on a player in that position.
If you hate the idea of Walker there you'll probably hate the idea of every player we get linked with for the position, because they'll all be freebies on the wane.
Think we just have to accept that for the next 12 months our RB situation will improve from last season but won't be fully addressed for another year.

Re: The Rebuild
It would be hilarious if we signed Kyle Walker and Kyle Walker-Peters.
Far from optimal business, mind you.

Re: The Rebuild
I don’t know why people hate Walker. I don’t read stuff about folks’ personal life, I’m not really interested. Massive bellend or not he hugely improves the squad. No-one is touting him as a long term option because he isn’t one. And I reckon those who hate him for whatever reason or claim he is done for whatever reason, would soon have to admit that he is one of our best players if he came.
Re: The Rebuild
For me, it was the gangbangs during the pandemic that made me question his character.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 10:29 pm I don’t know why people hate Walker. Re: The Rebuild
The what now?!
Anyhow, as far as football goes, the question is how good of a passer is Kyle Walker from that right back position?
If his legs have gone, then he’s not going to be able to play at both ends of the pitch like he would have at his peak. He’ll either need to stay back a bit and pull strings from deeper or he’ll need tons of protection from the midfield if he’s getting around the opposition box regularly, which seems suboptimal given the amount of work this squad needs in the middle.
If Moyes has a plan to run an imbalanced formation where the RB hangs back and does more work in the buildup and LB has more license to get forward then it could work. But it’s a lot of ifs.
And that’s before we talk about wages, which seem prohibitive.
I don’t see it. But you never know.

Re: The Rebuild
He is shit. He's been shit for a long time. There is no way on earth he would be one of our best players.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 10:29 pm I don’t know why people hate Walker. And I dislike him because he is an arrogant prick who treats women like shit. Broke covid rules to cheat on his missis over and over. Got about 10 women pregnant. Etc
