Sigurdsson was signed under Moshiri too wasn't he, that's another £50m or so that can be added to the tally.

Re: The Rebuild
Poor journalism to point to the Bolasie loss without mentioning the significant injury he suffered.
Gbamin was the type of player we should have been buying more regularly, just got unlucky. Again, harsh to pinpoint that signing as a sign of poor transfer dealings, although they do mention he was injury plagued.

Re: The Rebuild
Bolaise was a poor signing just for the fee we paid, he also went on loan 4 times after his injury and played about 60 games in those loans so it's not like he got injured and hardly played again.
Re: The Rebuild
That injury absolutely destroyed his pace and game though, he was out for a year and had a couple of surgeries. He never got near the same levels because of it. He struggled in the championship with Villa despite being a good Premier League player with Palace for many years.
He was never going to be an amazing signing for that money/age/level but the injury destroyed any chance he was going to get. He started okay with 5 goal involvements in his 13 matches before that injury, so we'll never know.
Re: The Rebuild
I thought he was a shite when we signed him and the money we paid was far too much so he'll never get a pass from me.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 11:49 am That injury absolutely destroyed his pace and game though, he was out for a year and had a couple of surgeries. I think even without his injuries he'd have been a poor signing, an attacking player who doesn't really create or score goals. We seem good at finding those type of players.

Re: The Rebuild
Bolasie always raised his game when he was playing AGAINST us.
I think that was the only reason we signed him.

Re: The Rebuild
I think we’d have just about gotten our money’s worth if Bolasie hadn’t gotten badly injured.
His game looked a bit awkward and his decision-making was infuriating at times but his pace, strength, and skill saw him get into tons of good attacking positions.
Wasn’t enough to boot Gerry D. out of the team for me but it was only a disaster because he got hurt. We paid more for other players who actively hurt the team, even fully fit.

Re: The Rebuild
Bolasie was overpriced, but not on the Cenk Tosun level of dumbfuckery.

Re: The Rebuild
Obviously it was circumstantial why he left the club but he would have seen his contract out and left on a free anyway I'm sure.
Still remains our record signing doesn't he?
Just a rotten era all round really wasn't it.

Re: The Rebuild
Really? I was under the impression that the situation with Sigurdsson was a part of our PSR appeal, as we could have reasonably sold him for in excess of £10m.
Re: The Rebuild
I think we tried to use it as a defence that there was a potential move to Saudi or something but the panel didn't buy the story.
