Is Woltemede an out and out striker though?

Always seen him as a little deeper, second striker style, similar to Steven Naismith.

Yeah he looks more second striker, though no doubt can play up top. If we're spending big then I'd rather him I think. Kind of fills that Fellaini/Soucek mould Moyes likes as well.

Barry looks a ropey player technically on the highlights to me. He's 22 and not even starting for the France U21s here.

I concur. Impressive range of finishing, all composed and deliberate and the ball sticks to his foot however hard it’s pinged at him.

Edit: a couple of nicely weighted throughballs as well, one of which I laughed when his teammate ‘controlled’ it into the net from twelve yards out (1m55secs in).

I think Woltemade's star has risen too much unfortunately, if he moves it will be for mega money.

If Barry gets many more minutes in this comp his will do the same for different reasons. Absolute monster in waiting.

Yeah. Woltemade looks ready now. Barry looks like he’s a season or two from exploding.

I see Barry as being a work in progress.

Beto will start, Barry will initially come on for the last 20 in the hope he can perform if beto has one of his ropey spells.

Then when we sell beto for mega bucks next summer we already have his replacement ready.

Getting Berbatov vibes from that Waltamade video, looks extremely composed and technically great.

Barry looks good though in his and scores a lot of headers so think he'd fit what Moyes would want from a striker more.

Both seem like exciting links but they are both already linked with big clubs so probably difficult to get over the line depending on how much they value playing time vs getting their big move earlier. I think we could box clever with these type of signings by including a reasonable release clause for CL clubs (say we buy for £30m then release clause for £75m) - yes it stops us making huge profit but it makes it more likely that players with high potential will actually sign for us.

No matter who we sign though I really hope it's a striker who can put his foot through the ball and actually lash one home - it's been too many years of DCL's weak shooting and Beto's insistence on trying to finish every chance by opening up his body and curling it far corner. I just want a striker who twats a shot like Kane does

Our club is only going to get bigger again. More revenue, world class stadium, and owners who want to invest in the side.

We might not quite get these players over this line this year, but the direction of travel seems to be correct in this window in terms of the type of players that we are going after.

I do remember Newcastle signing Isak for £63m though when they weren’t particularly good, and it can make a huge difference. They finished 11th on 49 points the season before they signed him

How is buying someone for £30m and selling for £75m not making a huge profit? That would be the most we'd have made on any player ever.

Have you seen the prices that strikers go for now?

Obviously it's still a big profit but if you sign somebody like Wolfemede and he smashes it in the prem and german national team then he'd me worth £100m+ the next year with a long contract

But £45m is still a huge profit irrespective of whether you think it could be more.
