Why are you wanting to keep him no one on here knows how much we have to spend I would rather a young player that we can improve and give minutes to without watching through my fingers harwood from Southampton for example 15 million good young player or one of the 20 Center half’s Chelsea have on loan so much better options than Keane

Thats the total cost for 2 years. You give Michael Keane £7.2m and.....no. Even just writing that is enough of the argument for me. I don't want us giving someone who isn't good enough to play for us regularly either now or in the future £7.2m. And thats completely ignoring the obscene amount of money he's been paid for not being good enough for the last 8 years.

Buying a young 4th choice CB who won't ever play so won't develop is a total waste of money... People seem to fail to realise that young and not playing doesn't equal development.

I understand the argument of just not having a 4th choice CB and hoping for the best, but there's absolutely zero sense in buying someone to play there and spending money that could be spent elsewhere on someone to sit on the bench for 90% of the season.

I think when Bob talks about buying a young defender he means somebody of that mould who can come in, learn the league, play a few games here and there and develop into a good defender.

If there’s a defender out there like this I don’t know, but it’s a much better option than resigning Keane.

Giving Keane a new contract is just short termism whilst we focus on other areas. I get it, but think it’s a waste of good wages that could be better spent elsewhere.

Hopefully he stays 4th choice and hardly plays as I don’t want him having any sort of decent run in the team.

Branthwaite went out on loan after being here for several years so it's not really a relevant example, as if we did this again they'd not be 4th choice.

It's just kinda mad we're all debating who is our 4th choice CB like were Man City or something... Really it's fairly irrelevant, any 4th choice CB is going to be largely a waste of wages as they'll hardly play, and being annoyed it's a certain player is pretty pointless because of this.

Spending money on one would be ludicrous given the number of players we need to buy, so we choose a short term solution which makes sense from a business point of view.

By all means buy some young talent to loan out and develop, but don't spend on someone to sit on a bench and never develop because we have 3 very competent CBs already in the squad.

Review and reassess in 12-24 months time.

No we're one bad injury or suspension away from JOB being in the team. It'd take two for Keane to be in.
