Michael Keane
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
What's the stat for where a player completely vacates the area he's supposed to be defending leaving his defensive colleagues having to make desperate attempts to cover the unexpected space and taking the blame for the goal conceded as they failed to pick up the goalscorer in time?
I go on about this but I see it coaching kids footy, where 1 defender goes awol but manages to avoid the blame as they weren't near the player who ended up scoring and the teammate who had to get across and cover takes the blame for not managing to prevent it.
For me that's the biggest issue with him by a mile. Terrible positioning and decision making when it comes to when to come across to cover or attack a cross or whatever, leaving the rest of the defence exposed. Not always noticed as it's not the obvious cause of issues but it's a glaring problem most games he plays.
Ah well as long as he's only 4th choice and the plan is he never plays then it's a great move.

The one thing I’m really really looking forward to is his testimonial game. How did it come to this. A new dawn and we have to carry on with the fear that Keane might start a game. Although I wouldn’t bet against him scoring the first BMD goal should he be playing.

Ugh, could be worse, at least we didn’t offer Mason Holgate a new contract
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
I completely hear you, but he plays well maybe 70% of the time and, for free, show me another mid table ( or better) prem side who’s 4th choice CB hasn’t got a mistake in himRisky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 9:47 pm What's the stat for where a player completely vacates the area he's supposed to be defending leaving his defensive colleagues having to make desperate attempts to cover the unexpected space and taking the blame for the goal conceded as they failed to pick up the goalscorer in time?

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
I've done the numbers because I know you'll appreciate it...

From that list alone, on a per-game basis, Keane only just scrapes into the top half.
Maybe surprising, but he's level with Jags, and Lucas Digne was almost twice as bad a them.
EDIT: On a per game basis, for any player with two or more, he's not even in the top 10.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
It's not his own goals , they all scored them
Mistiming his jumps for headers and falling asleep at the far post etc , does it for me . And that's something he can't fix because it's being going on since he's been here.
It's the anxiety to the rest of the back line . Panic sets in.

If he’s 4th choice it’s fine, kind of kicks the can down the road when we have more important areas to address. I imagine in a year he’ll go and well focus on a starter to go with Jarad and Tarks drops down one.
