Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Own goals are only one part of the shit show poor positioning rash tackling and his head falling off when he makes a mistake plus what his arrival does to the atmosphere in the stadium when he comes on or starts a proper club would bin him off but Everton will keep him to give us more memories
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Just a weird vibe in here regarding someone staying as a break in case of emergency role. I'd get it if we were keeping him as a starter but he'll likely start a max of half a dozen games over a whole season.
People going in on this like Tarkowski taking a bit of the ball before the man
The thing is it's not about him even being 4th choice, it's about him as a player and actual sensible thought processes have gone completely out the window.
We all know he's got his issues as a player, they are the reason he's been retained as FOURTH choice CB. Again though his role in the team isn't the issue here, people would rather we just got rid and played someone out of position there instead when required, which if they were willing to analyse things they'd realise is a pretty bizarre thought process.
I can't wait for us to actually sign someone because it might stop people debating this and posting his own goal stats or videos of his poor moments in games... Literally no one thinks he's great and should be starting so really what's the point in this? To prove he shouldn't be starting? To prove he has awful moments in some games... We know this, it's not some brilliant insight no one else has picked up on before.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Some serious dedication being shown to digging out someone not good enough to start for not being good enough to start.
If he plays more than 10 games were seriously unlucky, and even if he does, he's still better than most 4th choice CBs in the league.
We've got much bigger problems to solve, and with him and branthwaite signing we're now set at CB.
Is it perfect? No, do we have bigger problem areas we're now free to focus on? Yes.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
If you think someone isn’t going to play more than ten games then are they worth keeping on quite a big wage?
Got around 150k a week, maybe more, on him and Coleman to see very little return on the pitch.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
We don't know what his wage is... and if the club feels it's feasible and doesn't impact spending elsewhere then I'm thinking they are probably the best people to judge.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Be amazed if Coleman and Keane are getting 150k a week between them.
I'd imagine Keane 60 and Coleman 20.

You’re on another planet if you think Coleman is on 20k a week. Come on.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 5:56 pm Be amazed if Coleman and Keane are getting 150k a week between them.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
He isn't even available to play. He's never signing for anyone else. Be madness if it we're much more than that. How much do you think we are paying him?

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Honestly im hoping its less, but even if it's not, it's only a 1 year contract. So a solid backup for less than 2 million.
I'm not sure we replace him with someone as capable for less and we dont need to sign potential for that 4th slot as we already have 2 young CBs.
I doubt we want to spend on a 4th choice backup this year with all the other positions we need to focus on more.
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Well he signed an extension to his previous deal so I imagine he’s on the same money as he was last season which is around 70k I think.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 7:12 pm He isn't even available to play. He’s the club captain. He is not on 20k, I know that for sure.
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Coaches probably get £200k per year max.
Glad we give Seamus footballer wages to be a cheerleader though. Sensible stuff.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
Google says 55 last season and I'd hope he'd taken a significant cut given he didn't play and wasn't available to play. Who knows but even at 20 a week it's purely on his history with us
