Re: Dwight McNeil
There was just one instance a few years ago where he was so unwilling to use his right foot he turned a promising break into him running twenty yards backwards into our half and it stuck in people’s heads

Re: Dwight McNeil
There’s been loads of occasions, he looks so weird sometimes trying to get it on his left.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 3:01 pm There was just one instance a few years ago where he was so unwilling to use his right foot he turned a promising break into him running twenty yards backwards into our half and it stuck in people’s heads
Re: Dwight McNeil
I know this is traumatising for some of you but Maradona only played and scored with his left side of the body. Ever.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Same for Messi, same as McNeil really both of them aren't they? And robben.
Honestly what are you talking about

Re: Dwight McNeil
Wow! I actually googled, he scored 320 with his left foot, 6 with his right foot, 26 with his head and one with his left hand!
Re: Dwight McNeil
It’s not that they can’t use their weaker foot, it’s just that they don’t want to.
It’s just the way he is. As long as he produces on the pitch, it doesn’t matter.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Can’t believe he’s shanked two perfect cutbacks in the middle of the box on his left in as many games.
What’s the point if he’s not a machine with his left foot?

Re: Dwight McNeil
He hasn't really returned from his time out at the end of last season. Looked miles off it for most of the game and, as always, ultra predictable.
Re: Dwight McNeil
He's pisses me off.
Seeing Ili, Dibbo and Grealish so comfortable passing with either foot and then watching him lose momentum and turning in the box so he can use his left time after time is so frustrating.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He’s way down the Peckham order now so nowt to worry about. He’s gonna play a few cup games and some sub appearances and then get sold. Amazing how he was our best attacking threat not so long ago.
Re: Dwight McNeil
He’s had a career because he’s played for a really old fashioned manager who just asked him to stay on the left and win set pieces or whip crosses in.
He can’t seem to do anything other than that to a good level.
I hate his exaggerated run as well when he’s chasing back after losing the ball.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He’s cooked here. Don’t think he goes right away but he’ll be gone come January or next summer.
Moyes doesn’t want traditional, touchline-hugging wingers and that’s where McNeil looks like his best self.
He’s scored some huge goals and put in a proper 10/10 performance against Brighton during one of our toughest seasons but he’s not well-rounded enough to dictate play from the right half-space the way Moyes wants.
He’s like Sigurdsson if you traded a weak foot for better movement and intelligence in the final third. What he gains in involving himself in play, he loses in being so one-footed.
