Just on those saying they're disappointed with the activity so far... I think it’s worth reminding ourselves that player recruitment isn’t as simple as just identifying a need and signing someone. It’s a complex process involving negotiations, player preferences, agent fees, competing interest from other clubs, and much more.
For us in particular, it’s even more challenging. After years of financial hardship, we’re still operating under tight constraints. That means every deal has to be carefully considered, not just in terms of the player’s ability, but also how they fit within our wage structure and long-term strategy.
We all want quick signings and for players to be embedded before the season, but the reality is that some transfers take time, often right up to the final weeks of the window. That doesn’t mean nothing is happening behind the scenes. It just reflects the difficult balancing act the club has to manage to stay sustainable while trying to strengthen the squad.
Patience isn’t easy, especially when we’re all eager to see progress. But given our situation, I think it’s important to stay realistic about the complexities involved. There's still loads of time, and there will be so many deals happening across so many clubs that in turn have a ripple effect on the market.

Just been a boring week on the Tx front not even any concrete links, just a load of guff. With this and the Hackney rumours I wonder if we've walked away from the Luiz deal as both as DMs.
Hopefully that means we might see some movement on one of these over the next few days

My issue is that imo this is our chance to reset the club after years of bullshit relegation fights shit managers and bad signings I thought we would have more in by now but not panicking yet but we need to get 2/3 in soon to beef up the squad and another 2/3 in before the deadline we should be all over Hackney very good player in the making there

Going into the tour to America with only one new signing is already a failure imo.

When Sunderland have bought 7 players in knowing they need quality in their squad and spent £110m-ish in the process then Barry and Travers at this point of pre-season is undoubtedly a failure.

Yeah, doesn’t mean the window as a whole will be a failure, or that we want the club to rush into signings.
Just that the work we needed to do was clear, and to only have two in the door (one being a back up keeper) at this point is not a great way to start.

Someone mentioned it back in the thread, I am sure it was a BBC article on transfers in the league so far, but I can't find it again. But have found a Sky Sports list. Only Fulham haven't brought anyone in yet according to this.

I don't really know what people expect tbh. Obviously in an ideal world you get loads of business done early, but we don't live in that world.
Sure Sunderland have brought in multiple players, but who else wanted them? We could easily go out and buy a bunch of players no one else wants, but that's not going to benefit us next season.
We want quality, and as a result we compete with teams higher up the food chain, and that makes things extremely difficult.
If you want a high quality CM and RW then the unfortunate fact is there'll be better clubs wanting them too, there'll be agents using our interest to facilitate moves to a more desirable club. On the odd one that gets through all this then we have clubs who want x amount and we can only afford y, so then protracted negotiations begin.
If you're a more desirable club with money to throw around it's easy, but we aren't that. We have to try find quality, beat other teams to the signing and do it on a budget. So yeah, it's not going to happen quickly, but as long as it happens then we'll come out of the window much better as a result.
