Re: General Transfer Thread
remember in 1987 when we were league champs for the 2nd time in 3yrs - in the summer of that transfer season the shite went out and bought beardsley + john barnes and i thought thats the league title done already - they won the league season 87-88
got the same feeling here now unfortunately

Newcastle going for Wissa instead.
Brentford absolutely getting stripped for parts. Going to be interesting to see how they do with the new manager too...I know they've been a well run club but this is probably going to be the biggest stress test of that.

Re: General Transfer Thread
Out: Frank, Flekken, Norgaard, Mbuemo, Wissa
In: Andrews, Kelleher, Henderson...
Don't care how well run you are, that just doesn't look right.
Having said that, I think Brentford will put a price on Wissa that he's just not worth. Like £60m or something.

Re: General Transfer Thread
I wouldn’t bet against Brentford finding a way to survive but the rest of the league has gotten smarter (for the most part) about transfers and some of their competitive edges have gotten slimmer.
When you look around for actively dumb teams who might faceplant, you’re basically talking about United and they have a little bit too much financial clout due to the massive profile of the club. Although with the penny-pinching and toxicity from ownership and massive questions over Amorim, you never know…
We got rid of Moshiri just in time. If we didn’t drop with Dyche last season, we’d be looking like dead certainties this year.

Re: General Transfer Thread
yeah i think bournemouth along with burnley sunderland are probably certs to be relegated - think leeds may be the exception this season to stay up tho
wolves have a decent manager in pereira and may be ok too
Re: General Transfer Thread
Would we have any of United's cast offs - labelled shitly as the Bomb squad Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho

Re: General Transfer Thread
I'd imagine all but malacia are on 150k or more. We couldn't afford them and they aren't worth it

Re: General Transfer Thread
No idea what anybody is worth anymore - transfer fees seem to be more about resale value, wages and how much the selling club wants to keep them rather than how good the player actually is
Re: General Transfer Thread
This. United’s potential castoffs are way too overpaid to be worthwhile reclamation projects.

Re: General Transfer Thread
You'd be talking about rashford needing to take 33%, Sancho maybe even less than that. Believe even Garnacho is on almost 200k a week.
This is why there's no real interest in them. Only the elite few can pay their wages and if utd are sick of them they ain't signing for someone who can pay them 300k a week because they aren't good enough
They have little to no value because they are trapped by their ridiculous contracts
Re: General Transfer Thread
Absolute nuts.
Good player? yeah he is.
£71M player? nowhere near it.
Christ knows what they are paying him and cunha plus all the over rated dross they won't be able to get shot of, more non playing staff redundancies coming in, if there's any left.
They're digging themselves into a massive hole
Re: General Transfer Thread
Madueke to Arsenal for £48.5m is another head scratcher.
Why they would want him and give that sort of money for him is any ones guess
