Re: The Rebuild
Even if it's just for the season to elevate us and make us more attractive next season it would still be worth it.
Just have questions about his hunger now but time will tell. Can't argue at all with his quality.
Re: The Rebuild
My biggest issue is how viable it is to make it permanent and if we can’t, how do we replace such a good player in a years time.
We’ll be back to square one in a years time unless he wants to take a massive pay cut.
He’s great, would be all for it, but would prefer us make a loan signing that we could make permanent.

Re: The Rebuild
Not a big fan of signing players that aren't having any pre-season. I know he'll be doing fitness by himself but it's not the same.

Re: The Rebuild
I'm worried about Grealish. It feels like he needs a move to resurrect his career. We've done this too many times in the past, and it never ends well.

Re: The Rebuild
I think a year's loan is fine.
He needs a fresh environment, it's a noticeable improvement in quality for us and it buys you a year to scout and plan for the attacking positions, with the new recruitment people and processes fully bedded in.
I get some of the reservations, but then I think if he went to West Ham for a year's loan I'd be thinking ''we should've had a bit of that''.

Re: The Rebuild
I understand the view that it's likely a temporary thing, maybe it works, maybe it doesn't.
But I generally would view it as, great player to watch and raises the level. I want to watch good footballers play for Everton and he'd hopefully make it more fun and help us pick up a few more points.
Maybe not a permanent move or maybe it doesn't work out but I think, at the right price it would make sense.

Re: The Rebuild
I think it's a decent move for us and he'll do well. It's not like when we signed Deli Ali who was so far down the finished line we were never going to see his best again.
Re: The Rebuild
We have also done it plenty of times and it has worked.
Ndiaye being the latest example.
Re: The Rebuild
I feel for Gibbs-White but there’s no better advertisement for signing for Forest’s rivals than that video.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 10:01 am Wouldn't touch Forest with a bargepole after the MGW saga.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
Did us a big favor in recruitment.
Re: The Rebuild
Taking a punt on Ndiaye and taking one on Grealish are very very different. Wages being a major factor. It’s easy to get swayed by random social media posts, so forgive me, but there have to be some concerns about where he is in life and whether he’s actually up for it.
Re: The Rebuild
I hear the reservations about Grealish.
I do think the pros (galactic talent who can step right into the team and buck up our ideas in possession immediately) outweigh the cons (near impossible to sign permanently on favorable terms, will require us to go back to the drawing board next summer).
Especially given that we’ll be bedding in several other new signings when the dust settles on this window.
I don’t mind punting the hard work of finding a longer term attacking mid to next summer. It’s not ideal but it’s alright given all the work to be done overall.
