I also never get the following statements you see kicking around each season

"the league has got stronger" - has it? what evidence have we for that before its even begun?

"everyone around us has strengthened" - have they? or have they bought players that we have no idea yet whether they will work out or not, same as every year? I must have missed a few years where every signing every club but us makes works out just great
Yeah the league has got stronger is trotted out every year regardless of the evidence that suggests it hasn't and never is. I'm not at all worried about the newly promoted teams.

I had a quick scan of other team's spending, didn't look further down than us, but Villa, Bournemouth and Brentford have all spent about the same as us or less so far. Think Fulham have spent less too.

Obviously we 100% need signings and fast, not disputing that for a moment, but also are we going to spend £25m + £130k a week on some like Xhaka? I'd hope not, so being frugal will make things harder but it's the right way to go about things even if it narrows down your potential signings significantly.

What I can't understand is why we haven't sorted someone like Dewsbury-Hall on loan, that'd make a world of difference, but I'm guessing teams like Chelsea want mad bucks for loan fees at this stage of the window which we wouldn't be willing to pay.

Last year was the worst group of promoted teams the league has ever seen plus we had man United and spurs having generational poor seasons.

26 points won’t be enough to survive, plus spurs and United will be a lot better next season.

The league is stronger. It’s silly to suggest otherwise, just like it’s silly to suggest our midfield is fine, or that we’re biding our time in the market to sign players of high quality.

Just call it for what it is. We’re in massive trouble as things stand at the moment.

Am assuming we have 30-40m for deals like Fofana ,
Similarly
Nottingham Forest have signed Bologna winger Dan Ndoye in a deal worth £34m.

Others have mentioned it but the club need to bite the bullet on some of these negotiations. If it’s over a relatively small margin, just pay up and get them over the line.

I wonder how many failed transfers we have had because we are holding tight on amounts we are willing to pay. It’s admirable in a way but also shows what can happen if clubs call your bluff.

Read something that said Chelsea wanted more than 30m for DH. It's a massive Mexican standoff at the moment. He's not going to be available on loan til the very last minute

Think there's a chance it will be even less. There's nothing really to suggest these 3 will be significantly better and if west ham, utd and spurs do all do better them points will have to come from somewhere. Plus if bottom go down on 20 instead of 13 like last season them points also need to come from somewhere else

Wouldn't be surprised if none of them broke 30 again

The really worrying thing is there aren’t even any fucking rumours out there of players were interested in ! Just Fofana which is a non starter anyway, other than that even the worst ItK’s can’t invent a story ! Are we in talks with anyone ???

I don't think I have ever known it this bad, in the age of internet bullshit this is quite some feat to have achieved.

I want us to go back in for Doak, he's experienced in English footy, right age profile, plays the right position and looks like he'd be effective now whilst having a really high ceiling.

If we were willing to offer around £30m for Fofanah then I'm sure we could arrange a deal with the shite for a similar fee.

I don’t think Liverpool would be up for it

Would put massive pressure on him and us, tbf, especially as he’d probably our most expensive and highest profile signing of the summer.

He starts slowly and needs time to adapt to the league, then our fans won’t be happy we’ve given the RS a load of money.

Doak has been linked this week with a loan move to Forest.

Unpopular opinion, but we let players leave without a backup plan in place. For sheer numbers I’d have Doucoure on the phone.
