In fairness we had fans that thought Branthwaite was worth over £100m after playing about 10 games. 🙂

What something’s worth and what somebody is willing to pay for it are two entirely different things.

A player to us might be indispensable and worth £100m, but to another team, that same player would just add to their strength in depth and be worth £40m.

It’s where those two valuations are close and when both sides willing to negotiate - that’s when deals happen.

It’s when it’s a ‘undisclosed fee’ thats when a deal happens.

Ultimately he wasn't going to say anything other than that.

He can then say he's done all he can to get the most out of the deal.

Yeah we need to buy him: even overspend by a few million as it’s the catalyst for a shift upwards

They apparently want 45m and 25% of future profits. For someone who's done absolutely nothing in football so far. Feels like that's way beyond overspend by a few million. It's the 25% for me. There's no add ons at 45 bloody million. You don't get the safety net and top money too

I’d pay it, I really would

This kid is spoken about in such glowing terms and will either smash it with us and take us to the next level or get picked up by the likes of Chelsea and city.

Or like so many other young players, fail to achieve the daft levels of expectation a multi million pound industry intent on hyping a player to achieve maximum profit will set.

I want him of course, but I agree that 45 million plus a 25% sell on fee is daft, it just is. He might produce the goods and turn a profit, but you might as well stick it on the favourite for the 3:40 at Cheltenham. You only.gamble what you can afford and this is welll out of our league at this time.
