Feel like there’s already a disconnect forming between moyes at the rest of the recruitment team.
Fell out with the DOF at West Ham didn't he, ended up banning him from the training ground so it's not like Moyes doesn't have a bit of previous.

Might be nothing but it was always a concern that he wants as much control as possible, it's very old school these days.

Owners are always crackers aren't they
Fofana or Dibling are marquee signings to actual hardcore football fans, casual fans will have heard of neither and it will mean no more than signing Aznou.

Grealish is famous, has a brand around his calves, floppy hair and silliness so I can see why that’s seen as Marquee by the people trying to make the club a commercial success

In our situation a 29 year old on 400 grand a week is going to play every week. That's why on these occasions the manager should have the final say.

If that is true, and personally think it’s an overstatement, then it would be classic Moyes

The problem with that, and I love Moyes, is that we don’t have time for classic Moyes, we’ve got to get people in now, and they have to be fit for the purpose of the success of the club over the next 5 years, not the next season. That is a fundamental split in the immediate interests of the manager and the management of the club. Davey will just have to suck it up and play the cards he’s dealt, to a point, because I’m also sure he will get a few of his “own signings” in as well by end of the window, either loans or permanent that he will see as immediate fixes, ready to play

The whole of the strategy and action we will see will be a compromise across the board

The irony of grealish being the opposite of what I just said in total is not lost on me btw

Let’s wait for this to play out.

I can see Moyes not being into aspects of Grealish, namely the way he looks after himself and the fact he’s never been particularly good off the ball.

On the other hand, he’s good enough off the ball (you don’t play for Pep if you’re not) and he is incredible at keeping the ball under pressure in the final third. It’s near impossible to find a better attacking mid for this purpose.

Give him a bit more freedom to beat a man and take chances in the attacking third, bring back his joy for playing, and you’ve got a player you would not have direct access to in any other way.

He also got the corpse of Jesse Lingard flying at West Ham before he went rubbish again elsewhere, would trust Moyes to get the best out of Grealish.

If he’s not tied to the northwest like reports have suggested then he’ll not be short of suitors, he’s an exceptional player in his prime that you would normally never get the option to loan if it wasn’t for pep freezing him out.

Would love him here but I think financially we'd probably be silly to do it. I can see it costing someone 15m. Maybe they'll dress it up as 5m fee and 10m wages but think it will still take someone to cover the entire cost to city. He's just not worth that and we've so much to do for the now and for the future I don't think we are in a place where a massive outlay on a short term deal is remotely sensible

The really well run clubs don't appear to be interested because there's no value in the deal

If he’s willing to move across the country, we never had a chance of landing him.

Our sell is one part lack of options, one part having just enough money to get it done.

Doesn’t even need to do much building as he
Inherited an amazing squad. Just a bit of painting and maybe some lamps and stuff. The downstairs bathroom needs some work but not a priority. Maybe remodel the kitchen and put some decking outside
