Think initially it will be a tight 4-3-3 with Grealish left, Ndiaye right and a midfield of KDH and Gana as pressing 8s with Garner as a 6 behind them.

How this changes will depend on other transfers we do or don't make and the fixtures we have, but that's a very well balanced attacking and midfield unit to start the season with.

Pickford
O’Brien Tarkowski Branthwaite
Garner Gana
Ndiaye KDH Grealish Aznou
Barry
Can't have Ndaiye as a RWB.

But definitely an unknown we'll line up. If imagine KDH will be asked to play deeper and we'll still play 4-2-3-1, but him and Gana as DMs isn't ideal.

Gary1878 wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 8:05 pm I was thinking about this today and I also don’t see how KDH and Gana both fit into the side with Grealish at 10. I would love to be wrong but just can’t see how both fit into the side whilst keeping defensive solidity, which Moyes favours.

That means we might see quite a bit of Garner for balance or perhaps see a 4-3-2-1 diamond. That could work, especially without a RW, and Grealish/N’Diaye as the two. But then it goes back to our fullbacks being so weak that they would be unable to provide the width needed.

Moyes has some serious thinking to do!
Bit tangential but...

The 4-3-2-1 Xmas Tree formation was a God Tier set up on Championship Manager 99-00

Comes across really well and doesn't speak like a media trained robot, which is refreshing.

Can't wait to see him on the pitch Monday night.

No, it would be that lopsided thing, with the lw (Aznou, whoever) tucking into a back 4 when needed

*so O’Brien as rb/rcb

I don’t see what a back three does for us.

It’s not like our right wing back options are superior to our left back options sans Mykolenko.

He's got infectious enthusiasm hasn't he? Just seems like a nice genuine lad, and most importantly he sounds really up for it.

I am less worried than some. I reckon KDH has played multiple roles and is good at following instruction. If we need him to play a certain role I back him to do it. He’s a natural footballer, good at keeping the ball and I can’t see him looking uncomfortable receiving it anywhere. If he’s told to keep to a certain area and do certain things - I reckon he does easily.

Yeah proper all rounder. We will find out his best role soon enough and imagine it’s more attacking. but I think he could play striker or left back and do a good job. I’d even fancy him to do a jags and put the emergency goalie top.

From what interview then we're going to get 35 goal involvements from a shackles off Grealish next season on our way to the title. UTFT

I just hope this is a case of a top class player getting older and regressing just a little bit where he moves on from an elite club to a club like Everton but shows he still has class.

Like Gareth Barry.

And not a former top class player who’s lost the motivation and dedication for the sport like Dele.

It could go either way. I’m not reading too much into the stuff about him pushing for the move or how good he comes across in the interview. I think a lot of that will be PR from the club and his team.

The vibes seem good so far so I’ll let myself get excited.

I think he just wants to enjoy his life and enjoy his football. As great as I imagine it is playing for a manager like pep I think he can grind players down.

Cuddly, grandad moyes will just let him do his stuff and key him enjoy his footy again.
