Unless we pull off a couple of major coups this month then I'm struggling to see us above 14th this season

As does, only slightly less annoyingly, Jordan Jarrett-Bryan, in the same podcast.

A Prem Predictor comp got sent out in work minutes after I found out about Grealish signing. Bad timing, I put us in 9th and hit submit, I regret that now the euphoria has eased.

I don’t think we’ll finish 19th like but I’am pretty concerned going into the season.

The defence is a shambles. No right back to speak of and you have to be concerned about branthwaites injury record at this point. Tarkowski as well with a bad injury at his age, mykolenko is wracking them up too

I think young aznou is going to be thrown in the deep end and I worry for him.

The midfield ain’t much better. Overly reliant on a 36 year old and there seems to be no plan in place for if his legs go this season. No defensive midfielder in the entire squad and no real creativity.

Dewsbury hall is a good addition but I worry what we look like if we ever have to go him and James garner as the two. Armstrong and Tim shouldn’t even be talked about as options but they’re most likely going to have to stay now.

Attacking area looks ok but again, no right sided player. Whatever we start the season with it’s going to be unbalanced.

Grealish is an exciting signing obviously but you’re naive if you don’t have concerns. He seems motivated but how motivated is he going to be come January if we’re 14th.

Upfront doesn’t look much better. Fear we’ve fell into the trap yet again of signing a raw player from abroad expecting him to perform.

Worry about moyes as well. I think he’s come into the job to compete at the higher end of the table and is already accepting that isn’t going to happen with this squad. Don’t get great vibes from him at the moment.

Just, yeah, the squad is a mess, concerns all over the place for me, hope we can manage to avoid the worst. Any enthusiasm I had for a decent season has gone for now.

As of now?

Similar to what's been mentioned.

Bottom half team.

Not concerned about relegation but looking at 12th-16th with this squad as it is.

I do believe before the transfer deadline ends we will have the players we need but annoyingly it will be at the cost of some early season points.

The lack of planning when it was plain to see even at the back end of last season what we needed continues to be shocking.

It's like the club never planned for players getting injured.

Agree with most of this with the squad as it is right now. But I'll feel very different if we make a few more good signings in the right areas.

Was hoping for a better window so far 5/10 can’t believe we still don’t have a right back signed if we get a few more in I could see us comfortably mid table even top half right now I am worried about squad depth and an injury to gana fucks us

Feel he’s completely different to how he was at the end of the season.

If you look back he was very ambitious talking really positive about everything.

Now he’s pretty dour. Feel like he’s managing expectations already and is disappointed with what he has to work with.

When he’s in that frame of mind he can take his eye off the ball.

Can definitely see more comments from him towards the board and the recruitment team coming.

We might not have got our transfers over the line in many cases but the desire is there to do so, and it's clear we understand where we are short and have the finances to fill those positions.

It's not great now but I'm fairly confident we'll be 9th or 10th at the end of the season.

Wants total control, maybe was promised it. Recruitment team (what exists of it, no DOF or head of recruitment so I dunno) pulling one way, manager pulling another sending Baines and Charlie Adam to scout players (?), owners having their say as well.

Remains to be seen what the new analytics set up with the company we bought (that had a turnover of <£50k) will do but I know what my guess is.

I’m fine with not getting another striker or even risking our midfield the way it is but right back and right wing have to be sorted before the window closes

I'm fairly sure Moyes has given this vibe off in every preseason of his career.
