The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
I’m jumping the gun a bit because there are probably twists and turns to come but this summer is looking like an irredeemable disaster.
Hopefully this post will ultimately look as bad as me flapping about a potential back three with KDH at wing back on the Leeds match day thread.

Re: The Rebuild
This window has been nothing but a mess. Should have kept Thelwell for another year and let him do his thing. Whether it's down to Moyes or the committee, there blatantly hasn't been any clear direction on targets and a lot of frustration all round.
Our full-back options are:
O'Brien - Not a full-back
Coleman - Absolutely crocked to the extent he should be retired
Patterson - Not even close to being good enough
Mykolenko - Distinctly average full-back who seems to be picking up a few injuries
Aznou - Limited experience, unlikely to be ready for regular starts.
An absolute shitshow. May as well have kept Ashley Young around. We've somehow managed to be in a worse position on this front than we were last season.

I was actually expecting a big season from Myko.Shogun wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 9:16 pm This window has been nothing but a mess. Should have kept Thelwell for another year and let him do his thing. He has the technique and Grealish and Ndiaye are going to open up so much space for that position.
All he needs is the encouragement to put the ball in the fucking box.
But… he needs to stop picking up these dumb injuries. He’s too important.
Re: The Rebuild
Ake would be great if Branthwaite is out for a while.
Can play LB with Tarks and one of JOB and Keane as the CBs, and as a direct Branthwaite replacement when Mykolenko is available.
I hope Branthwaite isn't injured long term, but the fact Ake would expect to play every week (when fit) would suggest we aren't going to see Jarrad in the team any time soon unfortunately.

To be fair we've been proven inept both approaches.dazfrancis wrote: ↑Wed Aug 20, 2025 8:19 pm Everton football club will, in perpetuity, prioritise prem experience or just experience over having the correct profile and skillset for the position of need.

Re: The Rebuild
I just think get what we can at this point.
The defence isn’t as solid as we all think.
Injury concerns right across it.
If ake is available and we can get it done, get it done.

Re: The Rebuild
May as well get Stones in too while we're at it.
Last year of his contract I believe.

Re: The Rebuild
5 CBs, no RBs, one senior LB who is mediocre at best.
Insane squad building. Has to be a joke because there's no way we have the money to buy Ake, a RB, a RW, and a DM.

Re: The Rebuild
I genuinely don’t think Moyes thinks he needs a RB and wants to play O’Brien there long term.
Either that or he’s suddenly changing decades of style and we’re moving to wingbacks and three at the back
