Apparently teams struggle in new stadiums?

Not the toffees.

2-0 thanks for coming, Brighton.

Lovely first game.

Couldn't have gone much better really could it?

Win.

Clean sheet.

Pen save.

Goals at both ends.

Pretty much the best we could have done.

You can't beat a big, fuck off scoreboard on the roof of a stand. 🙂

Atmosphere sounded amazing, I'm sure those who went will be able to confirm this?

I watched the Roma game and the stadium just seemed so much more collosal with a full house. I knew the south stand was steep but jesus when fully it's incredible to see just how steep it is!

The camera was actually bouncing with the sound at one point in the second half!

I had the volume on full - there was no commentary to spoil it either - sounded amazing at times!!

Wow. Just blown away. Walked around when I got there and couldn’t believe how much space there was outside. It’s utterly brilliant that amongst 53,000 people, you can sit quite peacefully around the south stand by the steps.

Found my stone as well. I was fearing the worst that I wouldn’t be able to find it at first but the map provided helped.

Sat in block 205 and around some great people. Atmosphere was excellent and lots of people singing and enjoying themselves.

The stands are steep but you get used to it very quickly. Celebrating was not an issue! The views are fantastic and not blocked by anyone or anything. The walk up the stairs isn’t bad at all, and again you get used to it.

On the concourse, it was very warm. There was a crowd pinch point where the queues for the food and drink got too long that people couldn’t pass easily. That could be easily sorted with more vendors and one that are better equipped. They seemed lost behind the bar, especially at HT. They ran out of beer, and I queued 15 minutes for a pie and nearly missed the second goal. The chicken pie was great and £6.20, not bad at all.

Toilets were not an issue. Big queues at first but there are quite a few facilities.

The atmosphere was brilliant all round.

I can’t state this enough that this will be an absolute game changer for the club. It’s a breathtaking piece of architecture.

Sound was very good on TV so was curious how it felt in the ground.

Only big thing I noticed was the celebrations after the goals - at Goodison the supporters were right there almost on top of the players. A bit more space here between the stands and the field so that was different.

Otherwise, sounded very similar to many other matches I've watched over the years so that is great.

I thought the North Stand actually looks closer to the pitch than the Park End?

That was noticeable for me too. The disabled bays are an important commitment from the club, but I wonder if over time the ones in the South stand might be relocated, which should be reasonably straightforward given everything is so modular. All these things will settle down in good time.

Just on train home, anyone wondering what the atmosphere was like…….. awesome, once going, you could have been at Goodison on steroids or the 80’s, Meiss has done well.
The toilets could be bigger as queuing took all of half time. Getting out was slow, and walking back to lime street slow too.
But we only fuckin won!!!!!
Got four pint cans and a couple of yellow label butties for me journey back.
Utft!!!!
