I'm not a fan of that at all. The home kit has grown on me a little, as has the 2nd, but overall it's a poor trio of kits this season IMO.

Yeah that will have been from Umbro were making our current kits too though, so no contractual stuff stopping it like there will be now.

Apparently Castore own Umbro now so you'd like to think they could at least put the logos on those ones easily enough.

The retro kits are made via Fanatics, rather than Castore. In Cambodia.

Really like that - wonder if Neil Keating actually did the scribbles in the background? I like his art

Isn't it fanatics who own the umbro license, not castore?

I think id like the 3rd kit if id not seen that early drawing with the blue and yellow in big blocks like a reworking of the 95 away kit. This version just seems a bit of a mess.

Owned by Iconix and sublicenced to Castore via GL Damek apparently, see their Rangers kits etc.

Yes but I think it's possible that there's something in the contract we have with Castore that says we can't sell products with other manufacturers logos on. I'm speculating but it would explain why the only time we had the logo on was when Umbro were our kit manufacturer.

Don’t mind the 3rd kit. It’s fine. Bit meh, but fine.

Hate the ‘minimalist modern’ tower. If they wanted to just use the tower, crop the tower out of the crest, not use something that looks like a 5 year old created in Microsoft paint

I've been saying it for ages, that we should be kicking up a fuss about it.

It'll end up being our badge in years to come.

I've noticed that the shite are blending that minimalist background of just the Liver Bird into stuff now.

The funny thing is when all the badges are together, it's now the likes of Newcastle and Sunderland that stand out with their traditional ones.

You get used to the kits, it always happens that a bit of repeated exposure softens initial reactions.

Personally I still don't want to buy any of them though.

I don’t mind the minimalist logo for certain things, as long as it doesn’t take over the heritage style crest.

It has its place. Some of the tessellated background graphics it’s been used for are great.
