It does make for grim reading and I also don’t want Soucek but the team they play for and the role they’re asked to do will greatly affect stats like this. It only covers last season and West Ham had/have players who were good on the ball so there’s less responsibility to do that and the way the team presses and recovers the ball will be completely different. Spending over 15m would be absolutely criminal though and even still he’d have to prove to be worth the 15.

To be clear, he’s been in the bottom 10% of midfielders for passing stats in every season he’s played in the prem.

The only difference last year compared to previous years is he didn’t tackle much either last year as he was further forward.

At best he’s an average tackler who can’t pass but is good at grabbing a goal

If the fee is in our favour, I can see why Soucek would make sense to fill out the squad and make us more combative in the middle, in that Doucoure role that we'll miss against certain teams. And Moyes has worked with him before so I'm sure he'll get a tuna out of him.
