The Getting Carried Away Thread

Post

I enjoy Everton being good and having proper footballers for the first time in what feels like forever. We've moved on from Dyche. We've moved on from the likes of Harrison, Dom and Doucoure. We've got a brand new stadium. This is the best I've felt about Everton for a long time and hopefully the start of great things.

Boss stadium. Low-socked ballers. We deserve this!

I have not been that impressed with many other teams so far this season, so think we can smash it this season even if we're not always consistent. Europe here we come

Great expectations can bring greater disappointment, and well, Everton. So I’m not setting my hopes too high. If we finish 10th but play more of the kind of footy we played against Wolves (minus the shit defending), I’ll be happy. Anything higher is a bonus.

I think once Branthwaite gets back fit and we hopefully have good fortune with injuries I don't see any reason why we can't make a push for Europe, dependant on how far down the table it goes.

Depends entirely on keeping players fit, our first 11 is fine.

What I'd really love is for us to go deep in one of the cups and have a day out for once.

The roll call of clubs that have had a day in the sun since we had our last is not good enough. We're a massive club and 30 years is too long to go without anything at all.

I'm convinced the biggest thing holding us back and keeping us firmly in the dark ages was Bill Kenwright.

We didn't move withe the times, but this genuinely feels like a new dawn.

It remains to be seen whether these guys are the right owners but every reason to enjoy the ride, even more so when you consider the dismal last 4 years which would have been testing for any fans.

We circled the drain but stayed afloat. We genuinely deserve some good times from here on in now.

We're not a tin pot club, the potential to get back to where we where and where we should be is there. Just have to realise it now.

Sitting here gutted because next season midweek games will be a no go for me meaning I miss our champions league run to the semis.

I'm just happy to compete at last, as in, win games thought out of our abilities. My son actually said he misses the fear of last season, the adrenaline in the games... 🤣🤣🤣 He's only known us shit, so you've got to give it time

It's really nice to look forward to the next game and not dread it. I've forgotten what that feels like. Over the past 3 years we've been an incredibly tough watch with few exceptions.

We've got 6 points out of 9 on the board without being brilliant overall so far. But I back our defence to improve and the front line to get more lethal at the season goes on. It's just all very exciting and it feels like we have finally come out the other side of that incredibly dark long tunnel.

I've always been pro Moyes too, with some big reservations mind you, so I was delighted when he came back in and backed him to do well. But he is a much more pragmatic and mature version of the manager that left is in 2013 and for now I firmly believe he is the man to take us to the next level.

I want "Merseyside, la la la" sang at Wembley in a final against the shite like its 1986... and maybe a collective round of "Manchester is full of shite" at half time for good measure.

I want Jack, KDH and Ndiaye being painted like the new holy trinity on the side of someone's house.

I want to hear kids say "Bruh, I didnt realise they'd won more league titles than Chelsea and Spurs combined."

I want the term "Sleeping Giant" put to bed.

I want some silverware.

Historically when Liverpool improve it sees a reaction from us, I think the next 5 years are gonna be our time.

I believe if Grealish stays fit and signs on a permanent, and Ndiaye stays fit and signs a new long term contract, and the transfer committee continues to sign young hipster talent, and unloved geniuses (Grealish) that we will become a fixture in Europe and win cups

It's genuinely nice to feel like we do about Everton at the minute, so I'm trying to make the most of it.

One of the best things for me is that it's pretty much the first time in my son's life that he's been able to feel positivity about being an Evertonian and to be excited about what we might achieve over the coming years. I have to temper his expectations a bit but it's nice to see him being excited rather than having to deal with my relentless negativity as much as anything.

The new stadium is obviously mostly brilliant too despite a few issues, and we've made really good progress in the Friedkin's first transfer window. If this is a sign of how things are going to be I don't think it's unreasonable to see a big improvement this season, followed by further improvements over the next 3/4 year either.

I'm refusing to temper my expectations because life's been shit for us for that long. Just loving us playing good football it's all I want, to enjoy it again. The school of science is back.

Had a conversation with the little blues in the family around the breakfast table on Sunday morning after watching MOTD. When’s the soonest do you think we could win the champions league Dad? Next year kids, next year….we just have to keep Grealish.
