Is your advice for Moyes as well I assume?Bluebridge wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 2:43 pm I hope all the Flappers read this and now understand why it takes so long.

Re: The Rebuild
It's a really good article. I really like Paddy Boyland, a proper journalist and he comes across as a really nice ladBluebridge wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 2:43 pm I hope all the Flappers read this and now understand why it takes so long.

It does massively reconfirm that we fucked up and spend loads of time trying to bring in players that were never going to come to us though.

Re: The Rebuild
Wasn’t sure where to put this. I guess this thread as is relevant to squad depth.

Re: The Rebuild
Surprised he’s still putting up monster defensive numbers, albeit in a less physical league.
He was slowing down when he left Southampton, not sure we can carry his legs with the way we play.

Re: The Rebuild
I don’t see it like that at all mate. I get what you’re saying. But I think there’s probably a fair bit of carpet bombing by every club. You start out and fire of a ton of emails loads of phone calls. Then the database starts getting filled up. This player we can definitely get. This player might do but at the moment he’s seeing if he can go to CL team. This player is probably going to go back to his home club or spurs or Napoli or Newcastle so probably wasting our time calling him but lots dream a bit. Much better to try your hand at a ten Grealishs and getting one over the line than just dying on a brownhill

A fairly complimentary overview of our summer.

Re: The Rebuild
So, 11 games in. 15 points and 13th place. Not too bad. Some good performances and some disappointing ones, with no real pattern of form.
For the pessimists, 5 points off the relegation zone. For the optimists, 5 points off 2nd and within a win of the European places. Maybe indicative of the league this year, which is super competitive.
I am just realistic and believe will probably end up somewhere mid table. But is it time where we can start to believe again in what is possible for us going forwards?
3 questions for everyone:
1. What has been the biggest positive of the season so far
2. Where do we most need to improve, either as a club/squad
3. Linked to the above, what is most important in terms of actions for the January transfer window?

Re: The Rebuild
I guess the biggest positive vs expectation has to be Keane
The negative is the lack of real impact from any of our permanent signings so far. Hopefully Barry takes off now and others start to get minutes
In terms of the windows going forwards we have to start making the right signings to fix the problems. Definitely need a right back, probably need a senior striker on the cheap,

Re: The Rebuild
I'm probably on the fence regarding where we are right now, Fulham are terrible this year, especially away from home so can't get excited about the win too much. Equally we don't always win games we should and Moyes made a change we all wanted so my trust is back a little that over the course of a season he'll get more right than wrong.
Really we're probably just experiencing a very mid table type season of ups and downs without much sustained good or bad form... It's been so long we've forgotten what that feels like so will naturally lurch from positive to negative based on a few games and vice versa depending on results.
