Probably a bit knee jerk given what he did last season, and the fact we were the better team against Liverpool for 60 mins.dazfrancis wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 11:46 am Can see Moyes part 2 petering out with a whimper based on the last 2 results.
Still making the same mistakes as 10-15 years ago

Re: David Moyes
I'm not saying we should sack him lol.
But following that great start it looks like we've reverted to Moyes mk1

We're not in any danger of flogging players to death at the moment, that's just complete hyperbole. We do have some options and changes we can make and we're not in a terrible position squad-wise, but the issue with last night was with going too far with the number of changes and ending up with a disjointed team on the pitch.
So when does gueye get a rest if we can't even be confident of closing out a game against wolves leading 3 1??
Re: David Moyes
When we're in position to put Garner or Rohl or even a 3rd CB, not when it's like for like with Iroegbunam. Or when we're halfway through the season and he genuinely needs a rest and genuinely couldn't manage those last 15.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:04 pm So when does gueye get a rest if we can't even be confident of closing out a game against wolves leading 3 1??
Re: David Moyes
When we are 3 nil up you take off your vital players. Unless they look knackered. Gueye hasn't shown any sign of fatigue
Re: David Moyes
He can't, because the squad building is so poor.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 1:04 pm So when does gueye get a rest if we can't even be confident of closing out a game against wolves leading 3 1??

Which would still be a massive step up from where we've been for the last 5+ years to be fair.dazfrancis wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 12:36 pm I'm not saying we should sack him lol.

It's probably the medicine we need to get the playing side of the club back on track.
We're one Keane meltdown, injury to gueye, pickford, grealish or ndaiye away from all of the positives we've seen this season resetting back to last seasons survival mode.

Re: David Moyes
Yeah that's my point too. Wholesale changes in the cup is purely because it's never going to be safe to rest our players.
Re: David Moyes
I do wonder when he'll realise that Iroegbunam is not fit for purpose and should never see the pitch.

Re: David Moyes
It’s kinda mystifying isn’t it.
Iroegbunam’s got a toolbox (quick, can pass, dribble, even tackle) so maybe Moyes thinks he can help him knit it altogether and he’ll be a good player, but I just can’t see it myself.
Re: David Moyes
7 games in and we've only won 3 and one of them was mansfield....drew one....lost 3....
so 2 league wins and a draw.....
2 league defeats....
1 cup defeat.....
no need for knee jerk just yet i think....however he needs to get the points in the bag before january and afcon based on last nights showing...

Bizarre levels of responsibility given to him this year for a manager who is notoriously risk averse.
Re: David Moyes
Not sure why we didn't go again with the same team that did well against Liverpool. It's only September, the season is a month old. Not like we need to rotate to negotiate a packed fixture list, or fatigue is creeping in, or we have some proper squad players champing at the bit. If anything another game will get the first team lads fitter and sharper and more likely to get better playing together.
Just a really bad night for Moyes that. Really disappointing.

Re: David Moyes
Champions League Newcastle tonight at home against Bradford on the back of:
Sat 13th Wolves
Thurs 18th Barcelona
Sun 21st Bournemouth
This weekend Arsenal
Ramsdale; Kraft, Thiaw, Botman, Hall; Guimaraes, Miley, Joelinton; Elanga, Osula, Gordon
Bet the Newcastle fans are fuming he's risking some key injuries there!

There's no excuse for what he did last night.Bumble wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 4:01 pm Not sure why we didn't go again with the same team that did well against Liverpool. The amount of changes was ludicrous, with a central midfield of garner and iroeghbunham(who's utter shite) there was only one way it was going to end for us, the same as is always does out of a cup with a whimper.
Honestly, i can't get my head around his way of thinking.
And i'm still fuming over it
