Worked reasonably well with Cahill
Iliman Ndiaye
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Now that KDH is (harshly) suspended. I'd like to give Dibling a good go on the right where he prefers to play and get Ndiaye on the left with Grealish centrally.
Or at least get Ndiaye in the middle. Any one of the two really.
He'll probably put Alcaraz in but we will see.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Cahill was good in the air, similarly why Fellaini worked there too although his chest was used more due to him being so tall.
Not sure what Ndaiye would be supposed to do unless he's great at reading where a Beto miscontrol will end up and pounce on it.
Grealish in the 10 where he can't get doubled up on as easily and can slip through balls through to either striker who prefer to play that way is much more logical imo.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Would rather Ndiaye was the one in the 10. He played as a second striker at Sheffield United and scored/assisted plenty because of it. Get him up there with Barry/Beto and it will help them as well.
Grealish for all his talent has barely played as a 10 in his career.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
He played there for England under Carsley and was fantastic... It's not like he can't play there, there's probably as much evidence of him being able to excel in the 10 as Ndaiye, only his attributes mean he can play through balls through to strikers who only seem to be able to play well when receiving such passes unlike Ndaiye.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 11:08 am Would rather Ndiaye was the one in the 10. A fluid front 3 of Ndiaye, Grealish and Dibling with an extra midfielder behind them?
Or am I huffing glue?

Sounds good, but who’s passing them the ball? They’ll just be chasing the punts all gameToddacelli wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:42 pm A fluid front 3 of Ndiaye, Grealish and Dibling with an extra midfielder behind them?

That’s my thinking too, Put Ndaiye up top. Beto is Beto and Barry is not ready, I don’t actually think he will be, but too soon to judge. Those two are about as much use at the moment as Bret Angel and Stuart Barlow.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
I was thinking like when the right back goes up the wing and the left back stays to cover the back line, they could operate in that fashion each time one of them drops back to take the ball off a midfielder or defender.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:55 pm Sounds good, but who’s passing them the ball? Remember the days when we had Baines assisting Seamus.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 1:54 pm I was thinking like when the right back goes up the wing and the left back stays to cover the back line, they could operate in that fashion each time one of them drops back to take the ball off a midfielder or defender.

It did work at first though right?brap2 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 10:35 am Think it's time to move him over to the left and put Grealish in the 10.
We've isolated Ndiaye completely and he's out the game, maybe the idea is everyone focuses on Grealish then Ndiaye can run wild but it's not working at all. He's also out biggest threat in front of goal.
Grealish beat position by far is LW, but we maybe don't have enough balance with dudsbury standing on his toes and Ndiaye in another post code.
Get one of the two in the ten, let Ndiayes momentum and carrying commit players in that area, opening space for Grealish to do something other than stand up two men on his own and cut it back to considerably worse players.
It didn't work last night obviously, but I think we're letting him off easy if we're saying it's just a system problem.
I'd argue it was his worst game for us. The system didn't help, and Jake definitely doesn't, but he didn't even get close to matching his usual levels for the stuff he is responsible for in the second half. I'd have subbed him 20 mins sooner.
My worry with moving him back to the left with Grealish moving to the 10, is that they'll end up working in the same spaces and without a fullback who can contribute more effectively going forward, we're really going to struggle against any team that sets up the way Westham did.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
It may be time to give him a go as a false 9 and pull Grealish inside into the 10.
Give Dibbling an extended run. We need to mix it up. Its predictable at the moment.

Dudsbury is very good I have to say brap.
Get Iliman in the 10 or on the left. I love Grealish but not a fan of a loan player forcing our best permanent player to be shifted out of position.

Agreed said this at the time when a lot were stating how difficult it will be to get the ball of them 3 , but they have to receive and keep the ball first.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:55 pm Sounds good, but who’s passing them the ball? They’ll just be chasing the punts all game
stat put up last night we are 19th for passing ( 10+) passes.
assume the final ball is from Pickford Tarks or Keane .
