Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
What an absolute mess. No point in a league table anymore if teams are gonna be on deductions. Even less point when no one will know the standings until the season is done. What an utterly ridiculous situation. What an absolute fucking mess
Hope city win the league every season to to highlight the whole thing even more

Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
This might just bring the whole thing to its knees and have it scrapped
No other industry does this - if you spend too much you go bust, simples
Give us the points back and everyone crack the fuck on

This was the purpose of these rules. It's working as intended in this regard, pull up the drawbridge and protect the teams at the top at all costs.

Shambles. The whole thing is amateur hour. I mean I know we have good reason to make fun of our own situation and our issues, but I mean look at what's going on with the people at the top of the game. Making it up as they go along.
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
Newcastle are frustrated because it’s now going to be almost impossible to bridge the gap despite being the richest club in the world.
The top 6 teams have so much revenue already, that Newcastle still need to find another £150m revenue to get even. And how can they do that in the framework without doing some type of shady City sponsorship.
The only legal and proper way for Everton to get back to the top of the game is through the building of the stadium, and we are being penalised heavily for creating something fantastic for the whole country and football to enjoy.
As I have previously said, FFP will collapse in its current form, but will be replaced with better financial regulation in the future and something that works. There are far too many flaws in the current framework.

The “big 6” will kick off if anyone tries to change it too much, and they’ll push the super league card to ensure they get what they want
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
I wonder if this has any relation to our appeal about the current points deduction?
No point deducting teams points now if we'll show how utterly dumb their process is. Better to wait for the results of that and then they can give a more iron clad version that won't be successful under any subsequent appeals.
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
Yep, if it was actually out of interest to fairness then the league would have introduced (even) salary caps and rules around transfer fees and potentially even drafting, long ago.blueToffee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 8:14 pm This was the purpose of these rules. The top teams have far too much power over the rules that are currently in place, FFP/P&S were driven by UTD, Liverpool, Arsenal etc when they collectively shat the bed after Chelsea became a billionaires play thing. They were the horse that bolted before the barn doors were slammed closed.
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
A healthy salary-as-percentage-of-revenue and a debt-to-capital ratio should be the only things a club is mandated to stick to.
That's how to ensure sustainability. Arbitrary lines in the sand, that ignore inflation and external factors, is a baffling option to use. But, it was implemented when those figures looked huge enough to keep the richest clubs happy and losing £100m+ on player trading in 3 years was something only the Chelsea's and Real's of the world were doing.

Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
UEFA are introducing new cost control rules for teams in their competitions at the moment, which you'd think will eventually trickle into the rules of the domestic leagues themselves. Plenty of time for the big boys to work out ways to get around them though

The new regulations will see clubs subject to squad cost controls for the first time. The cost control rule restricts spending on player and coach wages, transfers, and agent fees to 70% of club revenues. (The gradual implementation will see the percentage at 90% in 2023/2024, 80% in 2024/2025, and 70% in 2025/2026).
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
Still only benefits those clubs already at the top though doesn't it. How can you grow your revenue if you can't spend on what's needed to get you into the CL (and stay there).
The only fair option is caps that are the same for everyone, not based on a club's earnings.

Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Deducted 10 points
I'm guessing but I'd imagine a lot more than the top 6 voted for it. I wouldn't be surprised if we voted for it to cement our place in top flight too. Clubs probably decided they were happy with what they had rather than be ambitious and potentially lose out to more ambitious teams. Ffp is awful but it wasn't just voted in by the top fewJamokachi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 10:22 am Still only benefits those clubs already at the top though doesn't it. Who knows, they seem to be hell bent on moving the goalposts all the time.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 10:02 pm I wonder if this has any relation to our appeal about the current points deduction?

The fact that we might get another deduction on Monday is a farce in itself as they decided mid season to fast track decisions, meaning we could be punished twice in the same season for what is effectively TWO different financial years
Hopefully as others have said it leads to a reform, they need something iron clad rather than just winging it.
