Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
I keep reading that this is the first time he'll have a great team. Given his Everton team probably was:
. Pickford
Young Tarkowski Branthwaite Mykolenko
Mangala Gana
Harrison Doucoure Ndiaye
DCL .
And Forest is:
. Sels
Zinchenko Murillo Milenkovic Williams
Anderson Douglas-Luiz
N'Doye MGW CHO
Wood .
Am I deluded in not seeing a massive difference there? I'd actually wager that Dyche himself would probably prefer our wide players in defence and attack (which also sums up what is wrong with him).

Another in the impressive line of managers we’ve sacked for being shit but have managed to fail upwards and land a bigger job

Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
The irony, Dyche in European competition, he could have managed for a lifetime and never qualified for Europe.
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
Yeah, they finished 7th in about 2017, got in the Europa League.
The job he did at Burnley had to be respected really. He took Burnley to heights they're unlikely to ever see again, did a fantastic job overall.
Everton and Forest are very different though, and we saw how poorly he coped with the former last season.
You also can't get away with having a load of hard working cloggers in the Premier League now, like you could a decade ago.
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
They qualified for Europe in 7th on 54 points and we finished 8th on 49 points with Allardyce, so I'm not sure it's as great an achievement as it sounds anyway.
Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round
Also, managers change over time and not necessarily for the better. I think as admirably as he coped with the points deductions (and he really did well there), it ultimately broke him and killed off any adventurous instincts he may have had before. (And there weren't many there to start with.)

He's always come across as a likeable guy.velimski wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 7:13 pm Here's Sweden's new manager Graham Potter speaking Swedish.
