Same as I saw it. A few nice touches going forward but a boy against men defensively. Dread to think what someone like Adama Traore would do to him.NomadskiEFC wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 4:56 pm It's a very small data point available but against Roma Aznou looked like an actual child being obliterated by their winger. No physical presence at all.
I'd be very concerned to see him coming on in the league.
Like I said tho, 1 game, could have been just a mad debut for him.

Re: Michael Keane
Looked worse because it hit one hand onto the other. The hand a mile away from his body doesn't matter because it deflected off him onto it and those are never given.
So it's whether you think the hand closest to his body was in a natural position or not. I'd say it was personally, just about.
Be nice if he could just put them behind his back like most modern defenders though.

Re: Michael Keane
I know it’s probably a pen but seriously what is a defender supposed to do with his hands it’s gotten ridiculous btw he was the better Center back again last night

Re: Michael Keane
Think maybe shouldn't be penalties at all unless its deliberate or its blocking a shot on target. Punishment doesn't fit the crimeKerryblueboy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 11:01 am I know it’s probably a pen but seriously what is a defender supposed to do with his hands it’s gotten ridiculous btw he was the better Center back again last night

Re: Michael Keane
Traore would do what he does against most defenders: breeze past him and then invariably fail to create a decent chance.
Re: Michael Keane
He spent half the game with his hands behind his back trying to avoid the ball hitting them. If there is one sight that pisses me off, it is watching defenders have to defend against attackers in such an unnatural way. Its no longer a contest, especially full back against winger, might as well tie their legs together too and turn them in to fussball men.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 10:57 am Looked worse because it hit one hand onto the other. Absolutely 100% right.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 11:14 am Think maybe shouldn't be penalties at all unless its deliberate or its blocking a shot on target. Punishment doesn't fit the crime
I don't know if it's my age and the fact i've been watching football for nearly 60 years, but i can't believe that anyone seriously thinks that was a penalty last night.
If that was given then there's no point in players going for goal just boot it at a defenders arm and get a penalty
Re: Michael Keane
They’ve made a complaint about it.
I mean, I think it’s a pen but if it’s not given it’s not worth kicking up a fuss over.
Just another annoying thing about modern football.
Would be nice if Keane stopped doing jazz hands inside his own eighteen yard box like.

Re: Michael Keane
Bit worried about the pairing. Keanes defending far better than Tarkowski but they don't work well together. I wish Moyes had the balls to play O Brien there, we need mobility and a bit of pace.
Re: Michael Keane
I get you, and I've thought about this previously, like when he 'handled' in the same way but on the other side of the box a season or two ago...
Not sure how anyone undoes or reorders 30-odd years worth of body mechanics and movement. It's just him, he's very ungainly, long limbs, but never in a way that suggests he's trying to have his arms in the way or gaining an advantage.
I think he's a bit unfairly treated due to his body shape and obvious and distinct movements, something that he cannot change.
The arms behind the backs business is ridiculous and unnatural result of a rule thats gone too far to produce more goals.

It’s a flaw in his game.Cods wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 10:18 pm I get you, and I've thought about this previously, like when he 'handled' in the same way but on the other side of the box a season or two ago...

Has quite a few handballs and mistakes in the box because he can’t get him lanky limbs out the way.
A lot of defenders have adapted but he hasn’t for whatever reason.
This with tarkowski standing right infront of the keeper instead of pushing out makes for a terrible combination.
