Probably not the reason we lost today, far too many were off it. Pickford had a stinker unfortunately too.

However, it's going to need a rethink in terms of how we deal with his absence.

Can’t be playing PSR Tim, has to be Alcaraz and KDH in whichever combination.

Yes and maybe Rohl when/if he is ever fit enough.

Röhl is an attacking player.

Tim is a crap player.

Charlie is an attacking player.

None of them fit. None of them fit at all. Midfield options are terrible.

Garner sits
KDH and Alcaraz can both play as 8s in a 4-3-3.

I don't have any issues with that tbh although they're all fairly small and lightweight.

Losing Gana isn't catastrophic if you set up the team correctly. Think Tim had earned a start yesterday but it's very very clear now he isn't the answer so we now have to use what we have available in a way that gives us a fighting chance.

Garner sits, badly.

Now what? Your base midfield is crap at his job, what do you do next?

He doesn't sit badly, he's just very safe / crab like on the ball... He's our usual sitting midfielder so has no reflection on Gana being out.

He does I'm afraid. He's a busy midfielder and he's safe but that doesnt mean he's got a good understanding of when to press how to press when to retreat, how to be progressive or start attacks. He also hasn't got the strength and legs to physically dominate the middle of the pitch.

He reckons personally that he is a 6.

For most of his career he's been an ok 8.

He's now being an ok 6 ok 8 ok RB.

He'll be exposed without Gana plugging gaps.

Everyone in our midfield is a statue compared to Gana. He was a massive loss for last night. Our entire midfield became bystanders without the ball.

Ok fine but but either way he's playing as the 6 so it's just a matter of who and how we play to at least be semi competitive in there.

It was the same with the ball too. No movement at all.
