As if Grealish is the problem in this team. He's the main reason we carry any threat and teams actually worry about us going forward. He's taking two men out of the game every time he moves past the halfway line, it's our job to exploit that

Because he is levels above anything else in the squad apart from Ndiaye. We really need our two best players closer together on the field rather than stood on opposite flanks though.

I don't think Grealish it the problem in this team, would be surprised if anyone's actually saying that. It's just not a good fit for either party... We needed a pacey direct runner and we got a brilliant ball retention player who needs a quality over lapping full back which we don't have.

Thankless task for Jack being doubled or tripled up on every game without anyone providing runs off the ball other than KDH, and his lack of threat as a result hampers us. Imagine we'd signed one of the rapid LWs we were linked with, we could sit deep, soak up pressure and hit teams on the break ala Forest or Palace. Instead we have a lot of technical ball players who need the team to push up and play possession football which then leaves the horribly slow defence massively exposed on the counter.

Just a lot of pieces as per usual that don't fit together in a cohesive fashion.

I think we'd be crazy to sign him permanently, not because he isn't brilliant, but because he's not the type of player we need.

Even if we buy an overlapping full back neither Ndaiye or Dibling are pacey so it just continues to hamper us tactically.

This season is what it is, we're probably around the 14th best team in the league, but if we want to progress beyond that in the future we need to buy players that allow us to play a different way.

Will enjoy him being here this season and it's a shame we aren't a better balanced team that can really enable him to unlock his best self, but it's unfortunately the reality of our situation.

Some, awful, awful shouts in this thread. He's not what we need? He's one of the highest assist makers in the league! Yes he should score a few more but come on. You can tell we've lost one

When was his last assist?

Teams figured us out after the first few games.

We don't have a striker worthy of the name, have very little attacking intent anywhere across the whole team and don't even create that much anyway.

Although having said that Grealish should probably be troubling the goalkeeper a lot more than he does. Has to take a bit of responsibility himself by taking a few more shots. Gets in great positions but rarely pulls the trigger. He's class but not perfet.

Its not a slight on grealish to say we dont have the players or system to get the most out of him. Not sure there's much point making someone you biggest earner if you cant get the most out of them

At some part we are gonna actually have to just sign what we need. We needed pace. We signed 2 wingers with no pace

Ultimately we have two of the best wide players in the league.

Unfortunately we have two of the worst full backs and one of the worst strikers*

Maybe if we moved him more central we'd get more from his undoubted abilities. He's got nobody to cross to, so let's keep him out wide and marked by two defenders. Makes sense

Well no, but also it's not coincidence that we went for Grealish after 5 different pacy wingers turned us down... He wasn't out first choice, he wasn't even our 5th, not because he's not class, but because he wasn't what we needed.

But thankfully the club were sensible enough to get him in rather than buy some poor fast player instead because it's only for a year, we aren't committed to the purchase and can try again for some of those players in the summer after a more attractive final placing in the league.

If we'd have got any of the 4 left wingers and 1 right winger we bid for and had that bid accepted only for the player to turn us down then we'd not have seen Jack here and that's pretty telling.

We knew he wasn't the answer but we also knew he'd make a difference anyway so we rightly loaned him instead of wasting money on a poor player.

I think where we went wrong is that we signed Dibling who also isn't pacy so it means if Ndaiye leaves (which let's face it will happen) we still can't justify signing Grealish as we will need an LW with pace still.

Glad Grealish is here, very likeable guy and a hell of a player. Think everyone feels the same, but also it doesn't necessarily mean he's a good fit for us or us for him beyond this year.
