Hit the post from a corner this game, did really well with a chance that the keeper saved and did poorly with another effort.

It's coming... Just got to accept he's raw and it's going to take time to develop.
Niasse would have been proud of the finish for the disallowed goal, it was terrible

He also had a chance from a ball into the box to just turn the ball around the corner on target, and spurned it into the air.

That said, apart from the finishing, I really like everything about him. He makes us better as a team, and hopefully he can get up and running this weekend. Just need to keep on with him and I am sure he will score sooner rather than later if he keeps putting in the hard yards

Happy to still persist with him.

We're likely not going to be troubling either end of the table so it's not like playing him is going to cost us a place in Europe or send us down.

May as well just keep investing minutes in a player we've paid nearly 30m for and hope it clicks.

Not entirely sure about that. It just doesn’t look like he is ever going to score as he seemingly doesn’t have a knack for finding space in and around the box. To have had one shot, off target, to your name in over three months of football is pretty poor, let’s be honest.

Almost scored yesterday and had a couple disallowed recently. I know the bar is on the floor but it's coming and at least he's doing other stuff well in the meantime.

Just cant be arsed with us sinking dead money into an Ivan Toney or someone to come in and score 7 goals to propel us to 10th.

Did he even hit the post with a header? I'm sure the keeper punches it onto his head

Disagree here, mate. Don't dislike Barry and I'm not saying we give up on him but I think it's becoming ever clearer that goalscoring is not really his forte. Even last season - was it 11 he scored for Villarreal? - was hardly prolific.

Everyone is saying in the matchday thread how great it is that the league is so close this season. We're currently 9th and our striker has just had his first shot on target!

Add a semi-reliable source of goals to this team (and address RB and CM if the right players become available) and we'd really be pushing for Europe.

I like him, and think there is more to his game than goals. That touch when he took a long ball down, the backheel and general interlinking and smart runs, for example. That said, it feels like he is on borrowed time. I would persist, but I fear that it is more likely that we get a loan in, in January.

Unfortunately for him, we needed someone who could hit the ground running and fill a huge gaping hole in the first team, and he's going to need time and patience if he's ever going to be able to do that, and obviously, there's no guarantee he will.

Not his fault but if we don't see more soon I think the club will have to do look at other options.

I still hold out hope, I think we've started to see some flashes of what we need in the last few games, and outside of the goals he contributes way more than Beto.

Did we need that though?

He's not had a shot on target yet, but made himself the number 1 pick and we're 9th.

Maybe....it's fine to bed him in?

I'm sorting of trying to convince myself with this more than anything because I do really like him but genuinely concerned by his low production like. Maybe it is coming.

Hopefully there's a Jelavic style signing in the pipeline

I like him too, but I think we did need someone more ready than he is, and probably still do. We've been fortunate that the league is a bit mental and that others have chipped in well, but if we'd had someone ready to contribute from the start I'd imagine we'd be 3-6 points better off.

In almost every game we've dropped points, we can point to a look of goal threat from the striker as a major contributing factor. The points have come with from us doing enough to overcome that problem area.

This is absolutely the season to start Barry and see how he goes. We aren't going down and we aren't looking at champions league or anything. Give the lad time to figure it out. Not against bringing in a striker to bring on when we need a goal because beto isn't that guy.
