Yeah he's an 8. Watched a thing a while back when Carsley was England manager exploring why we struggled so much towards the end with Southgate as neither Rice nor Mainoo were effective 6s.

Is this just someone’s Christmas wishlist, or are there potential links?

There’s noise in the press today about Mainoo wanting a loan since he’s not getting game time under Amorim.

He’s linked with Napoli not us in the press but you’d think we’d be interested if it was possible and it’s probably a more sensible move for United

I can’t figure out what type of player he is whenever I watch him. Looks like he hasn’t been coached in about 4yrs. Just runs about doing stuff.

Watched some analysis a few months back when we were linked more heavily, receiving the ball off the centre backs, turning and driving forward and linking the play. He can do it.

He was frustrated at lack of game time under Amorim and I think he's only played limited minutes since.

Amorim wants to keep him in reserve though.

Whilst not exactly the profile we need first up, I'd bite their hand off if it was a possibility.

Another small run around type guy? Not for me.

Nice player and I could see it happen but a great big large athlete with great discipline and a spray of a pass on him for me please.

The amount of doubling up on our wingers that happens - that spray pass is so important

Except they'd be helping a team they're trying to track down. :snigger:

We need to *buy* one of those if we've got the headroom. 5 year contract. Moves us forward significantly.

I think it's just turned out that way. I don't think it was even planned that he get the game time he has so far, but has progressed quicker than expected, Moyes seems to like him.

He was only ever a versatile bit-part player at Freiburg, not an accomplished player by any stretch he's played less than a season's worth of 90s in top division football.

We need a 26 year old powerful athlete midfield enforcer Guimarãe/Rice/Rodri type, please.

The better we do in the league , the worse chance we have of loaning top players from the supposed big clubs.
