6, Rooney levels of talent but lacked the application and will to succeed. Played within himself far too often

5. Largely unfulfilled promise. Talented, skillful and strong but he didn’t have the head to be a top player.

Rate the Toffee - #1 Ross Barkley
Eight for his young years with us, six for his career overall.
Most talented youngster since Rooney, looked amazing with Deulefeu and Lukaku but ultimately it didn’t pan out.
Ten out of ten for wasted talent though, could have been absolutely top level if he didn’t have his head turned

7. I understand why many are voting him lower, but I haven't seen that many better, more talented players live in the last 30 years. Certainly a few, but not many, certainly very few home grown. I think the way his overall career went certainly would bring his score down, but I'm looking at scoring this entirely viewed from the players time with us.
Gets bumped a point for having the sheer hubris to celebrate scoring before he put it in the net.

Yeah, 6 is about right. Such a shame - he had the tools to be an 8 or 9.
Re: Rate the Toffee - #1 Ross Barkley
Definitely. Injuries and poor (career) decisions done him in.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Sun Dec 14, 2025 11:24 pm Yeah, 6 is about right. Such a shame - he had the tools to be an 8 or 9.
Felt like a waste for both us and him. Although it's not like we would have been a great environment with how the last decade has gone.

Not as spectacular, but this is the goal that comes to my mind...cassius wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 8:25 am It's a 6 from me Shogs.
I really liked Rosco, but he frustrated me so much as I liked him as he seemed capable of so much more. I think he's one of those who was great playing off instinct but got in his own head too often and ended up making poor choices.
This is the goal that comes to mind when I think about him. I don't think about him that often, just to clear that up in case you were wondering whether I still have my Ross Barkley duvet cover, I don't anymore.

Barkley came out with an average of 6.22 on the scores.
Think the main man at Arsenal is next obvious pick (there will be some poorer picks coming).
So how are we rating Arteta?
As an Evertonian, he's 9/10 for me. One of the top 5 players I've seen in blue. Great in a wide role when he first came and after injuries was great on the centre of midfield as well. Fantastic player. Only a trophy stopping him from being 10/10 for me.
