I thought he had 18 months left. If it's 6 months then take what we can in January. He's not signing a new deal, he'll be off to one of those clubs I mentioned for free in the summer. Wouldn't blame him.

Re: James Garner
Not to mention the TITANIC sized media push he's had lately (his agents or possibly the club?).
Imo he ends up signing a mammoth deal with us, but there's a possibility he signs a new deal then is sold on. Depends who has been doing the push.

Re: James Garner
Yeah was mad when Tuchel was photographed asking him directions to the toilet at Old Trafford and everyone plot thinking he can play for England.
Re: James Garner
If we can get him to sign a new deal and then sell him for £40m+ then that is phenomenal work.
He's been excellent this year and the versatility helps, I just don't think he does anything that makes him irreplaceable, nor do I think he's anything better than what he's showing at the minute. We've probably already got his replacement at Preston.

Re: James Garner
Contract expires June 2027 so he has 18months left on his deal. Probably would get a decent-ish amount if we sold him now. Would sooner him sign an extension with us though. Definitely worth keeping around
That said I didn’t think he was worthy of that much praise for that Arsenal game!
He’s competing alongside the likes of Declan Rice for a place in the England team, do we think Rice would have had so little say on the game if they were losing 1-0 with half an hour left?!
Kept it safe didn’t he, and there’s definitely one eye on not getting that next yellow card as we can’t afford him to right now

Re: James Garner
Signed a four deal until June 2026 according to the OS.

Re: James Garner
Transfermarkt says June 27 - wasn’t there an option of an additional year that we activated?sure I heard something like that anyway

Re: James Garner
He’ll be signing on for our parent club come January 1st and strutting his stuff in the CL next season…
Re: James Garner
There was rumours that there was an option for one year but all reports were 4 years until 2026.Sir Stealth wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 8:45 am Transfermarkt says June 27 - wasn’t there an option of an additional year that we activated?sure I heard something like that anyway

Re: James Garner
Yikes. We’re definitely losing him on a free transfer then aren’t we!
Surely should have been sorted in the summer, though I guess we had a lot on our plate contract wise
Re: James Garner
It's either his agent getting him a move, or the club getting him a move. Time will tell.
There was a forest fella on twitter the other week claiming to be itk that garner wants to go back.

Re: James Garner
I think the fact there's been so little talk about it means we have an option for an extra year. Can't ever remember a first team starter getting to 6 months left and there being nothing coming out about talks or potential transfer links.
Re: James Garner
He wants to take a step down and play for a manager who he didn’t like playing for?
Strange that.
He knows he can get better than forest.

Re: James Garner
If anderson goes then they might go for him. He's not like for like obviously, but he's a known quantity for dyche and plays the same role.
