A solid unspectacular player who loved the club and a very good penalty taker.
Probably a 6 but i'm bumping him to a 7 just for the 2 outstanding performances in the 95 cup semi and final when Klinsman and hughes barely got a kick

I re-watched the 4-1 Spurs semi a month or so ago and got to say he was brilliant.
Re: Rate the Toffee - #3 David Unsworth
It was between a 6 and a 7 for me and I went 7 based on his first few years with us, the performances in the cup run and because he could take a pen.
From memory he was a CB and a better CB who played LB in a Lescott style do a job. Think he even played midfield a few times. As a CB I remember him being really solid alongside Watson.

He was one of my first favourite players. Mega blue. Gotta love it.

Gets a 7 from me. Anything less would just seem a bit harsh.

Really liked him, especially when he would pick up the ball from defence and just charge forward. Had all the tools but for some reason was a good rather than great defender. A 6 but that's no detriment to him really. Was very consistent.

Was wavering between a 6 and a 7 but the ability to take a pen on top of solid defending gets him a 7.
*Actually, having realised so quickly what a fucking shit hole Aston Villa is, and leaving without playing for them is worth a few more. I can't find 11 on the poll lads sorry.

The fact he fucked off that bellend John Gregory gets him an 8 alone.
Was gutted when he went to Villa, but the change of heart was glorious.

Their fans' reaction was absolutely totally Villa.sam of the south wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 9:43 pm The fact he fucked off that bellend John Gregory gets him an 8 alone.

The narrative went from "got your best defender, your Scouse hero, he's made the step up, final piece of the jigsaw. Great player"
A week later
"He's fucking shit. Glad he's gone. Would only have been paying him to play reserve football. Too slow. Shit fat bastard. Not good enough for us. Relieved he's fucked off."
