He's like a woman you love, but you still got to let her go because it isn't working and sadly never will.

Re: Beto
Honestly, just don't think it really mattered in the end. We're shuffling deckchairs around at the moment up top.
I don't think we improved with Barry on and while I get why we've given Barry a solid run of games to help get him up to speed with the PL, and I'm sure he'll continue to get most of the starts, I still don't really buy we're playing to either ones strength enough that it's a monumental drop off when one starts and the other doesn't.
I'd also add, there is a decent chance we were also putting him in the shop window for one or two Serie A teams in the upcoming window.

Re: Beto
Barry won most headers plus had a great chance that was well saved.
Beto just bumbled about and missed another sitter.

Re: Beto
It feels we don't set the bar the same for both players. Beto brought probably the best save of the match with his flick.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Dec 27, 2025 6:37 pm Barry won most headers plus had a great chance that was well saved.

I'm not really here to defend Beto, we're talking about pretty small moments in the game overall and I wouldn't be surprised if he was sold in January.
I just think Barry winning some headers and bringing one save doesn't feel a night and day difference to me. We didn't consistently build any better in attack with Barry on. It was just a bit of a mess today and I think we're ignoring everything before we reach the striker in rating these players.

Re: Beto
Exactly this. 1 player is awful and another had a good game and to the unbiased eye they look very similar. Beto was awful. He has a weird habit of trying to physically battle defenders but paying no interest in where the ball actually is. Barry was maybe fractionally better. They are both really crapblueToffee wrote: ↑Sat Dec 27, 2025 7:19 pm It feels we don't set the bar the same for both players. Beto brought probably the best save of the match with his flick.

Re: Beto
I honestly don't know how anyone can think they're basically the same player. Beto's technical ability is unbelievably bad. Like, how are you a top level footballer bad.
The might both be ineffective in their own ways this season but it's for different reasons. Beto seems to have more of an instinct when it comes to getting in the right positions to score goals whereas Barry is so much better at linking play.
If the goals dry up for both as they have this season then you're going to get an awful amount more out of Barry than you are Beto.

Re: Beto
Both equally crap. Different shades of shit. Don't really see the lot more we are getting out of Barry. The only game we got a lot out of barry was when he won a load of defensive headers against utd. He doesn't look any more a striker than beto does. They are both awfulShogun wrote: ↑Sat Dec 27, 2025 8:01 pm I honestly don't know how anyone can think they're basically the same player. Beto's technical ability is unbelievably bad. Re: Beto
Not the same players, I just don't think we use either of them particularly well. We play Beto like he's a target man and he's not, so if we're playing him we should be looking to play it for him to run onto. Instead we have players who want to hold onto the ball until all defenders are back in position. There were a couple of times Alcaraz or maybe McNeil had it and Beto is making a run behind and they just never play it.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat Dec 27, 2025 8:01 pm I honestly don't know how anyone can think they're basically the same player. Barry does do better in winner headers and bringing other in, but with the players around him today we rarely looked to build on that and I don't think we looked any better at creating chances when he came on. So that for me is why I don't think it really made much difference today. The team around both of them didn't particularly help either of them to succeed.
Re: Beto
Thought tbh Beto was terrible, bumbled round whacking into people, black hole for the ball, did win a few headers. Could have had a goal off the flick, should have had a goal off dibling.
I thought Barry was typical Barry but actually did manage to get a shot off? Got it on target, hard and low. Nevermind.
