Our club has always mislead us, especially when they want to get rid of players that are popular with the fans, i'd believe a players version of events when things have gone sour every time, a long standing pattern.Gary1878 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 10:47 am What I am becoming more concerned about is if the club/board have misled the fans in any way.
If it has been found that we have been deducted more points because we tried to mislead and hide information from the Premier League, then I do think we deserve what we get.
Surely if it was as simple as mislabeling the rationale for a loan and you can source exactly where funds went, then I can’t believe the PL would have cause for such a large deduction.

Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
The thing that really gets me with all this is that for the last five years we have been a textbook case of what FFP and other regulations are supposed to stop yet they’re only acting when all the damage has actually been done.
They let Moshiri buy the club despite it being clear there was a shadow buyer, they let it happen despite the source of the funds and had no problem with him passing the fit and proper tests. They let him spend wrecklessly and push wages/turnover ratio to obscene levels all of which puts the club at risk.
Now the situation for us improved as he lost Usmanov banking and wants out so we’ve curbed spending, sorted the wages out and are getting things under control and it’s at this point they decide to out the club at risk with a points fine (or two) - it’s makes 0 sense if the goal is to protect the existence of the club and prevent a Portsmouth.

Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
Looking at the full breakdown of the City charges from 2010 to the present day, the PL would have to drop everything on us and the others to avoid doing a "Rangers" on City, after the MP's hearing with City being brought up so much and our corner being kind of fought, add to that the threat of an independent governing body {which the PL want to avoid at all costs} they have painted themselves into a tight corner.
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
Don't hang your hat on what the PL may punish City with. It's never going to happen. By their own admission, the punishments handed down by the PL are completely random and off the cuff. Truth is, Man City are in a position financially to just keep ponying up millions to super-expensive legal eagles, who will just keep kicking the can down the road until it eventually all just goes away.eyesalwaysblue wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 7:21 am Looking at the full breakdown of the City charges from 2010 to the present day, the PL would have to drop everything on us and the others to avoid doing a "Rangers" on City, after the MP's hearing with City being brought up so much and our corner being kind of fought, add to that the threat of an independent governing body {which the PL want to avoid at all costs} they have painted themselves into a tight corner.
Apart from anything else, whar happens to the lucratiive TV deals, massive sponsorships etc, if one of the big six is found guilty of cheating and punished accordingly? What does it do to the ceedibility of the PL if the team that has done nothing but win trophies for the last 10-15 years is found guilty of breaking the rules? If City are found guilty and punshed severely, the European Super League problem surfaces all over again, as the arses of the other members of the big six start to twirch as they realose that they are not too big to be investigated and charged accordingly.
The entire league is riddled with dirty money, corruption and very dodgy dealings. The PL had to make an example of someone to demonstrate that they are on top of it. We just happened to be the most convenient target, because it's public knowledge that we've been run by absolute fucking clowns. Now they're picked on Forest too, another relatively eay target to go after, especially after they came up.last year and suddenly started signing players like Vivienne Nicholls in a clearance sale in Primark. They were reportedly chucking something like £200k a week at Jesse fucking Lingard FFS! How dare the likes of plucky little Everton have the audacity to show ambition. How dare Forest come up from the Championship after years of relative obscurity and attempt to eat at the same table as the established big boys.
City will not be deducted a huge number of.points. They will not be relegated. The very worst that will happen to them will be a fine, which will be the equivalent of the loose change that Sheikh Mansour finds down the back of his couch, or some sort of transfer embargo, which they will appeal and get overturned anyway.
I have absolitely zero confidence in the ability of the PL to self regulate. There is far too much money at stake for them to be truly objective and fully transparent. Everything that the PL does is opaque at best.

All good points 74, lets hope they don't want regulating by a truly independent body even less than doing one of the top 6
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
By all accounts City's FFP submissions are completely fine... The issue is they've covered it with false accounting and the fact they are being paid sponsorships via banks where their owners own all three parties means it's almost impossible to see what was really paid.
You'd need the most insane level of investigation from bodies far more suited than the premier league ever to find a shred of evidence as to what they've actually done.

They have straight charges of refusing to submit info, you'd think that will easy to punish, it's wether they have the will and the bottle.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 2:02 pm By all accounts City's FFP submissions are completely fine... Well you said ‘phoenix club’ so it has to be Brian doesn’t it?
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
Have the Premier League advised the “Independant” enquiry how many matches we should be banned for like last time ?
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
Hopefully they'll ban us from playing matches for the rest of the season but keep us in 17th
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
What comes first now, the result of our appeal or the sentence for the latest charges ?
Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
Appeal first.
I'm guessing partly because the outcome may influence the sentence for the latest charges.

That alone should result in an instant charge.eyesalwaysblue wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 8:16 pm They have straight charges of refusing to submit info, you'd think that will easy to punish, it's wether they have the will and the bottle.
Deal with it the same way you would someone who refuses to show for a drug test, as severely as if they had failed the test in the worst way possible. It's basically an admission of guilt.

Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Charged again
The rules will be changed to ensure the punishment will be financial or a transfer ban. City will not be deducted points. The guy has even stated their breaches are not like ours, but couldn't say anymore...
