Both Dibling and McNeil played poorly against Brentford, but I know who I’d have preferred to keep their place on the right tonightblueToffee wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:41 pm Yeah, was poor from Moyes. They made changes at HT and we just didn't react at all to the change in momentum. Didn't even change when they leveled, was pretty bizarre. He still seemed pissed from the last game and it seemed there was no way Dibling was getting on however McNeil was doing.

Re: David Moyes
I think the audio on the post match was deliberate terrible as Moyes lashed out against the ref. As much as I can understand him - he will get problems with players discipline if he focuses on the refs decisions. It was a catastrophic performance even in the first 45 minutes. They should be looking at themselves...weimaranerblues wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:32 pm Audio was terrible on the post match...
Think he said it was not a deliberate act to pull his hair..
Problem is that Moyes does not trust more than around 12 to 13 players in the squad so he has no substitutions or alternations to do to change things - he just hopes that we manage to fight through it.
Re: David Moyes
Crazy to think a man who ended his time here with Baines and Coleman is happy to play O'Brien and Mykolenko as full backs pretty much every match.
He doesn't have great options but I'm not sure what makes those two better options than Patterson, Aznou or Garner at RB regularly. It kills us pretty much every match.
I know they're 'better defensively' but we've just conceded 4 against Brentford and couldn't keep a clean sheet at home against Wolves, so what's the point?

Re: David Moyes
This is just about Moyes not trusting Aznou nor Patterson and as long as Gueye is gone he would never dare to put Garner at RB. I would like to see Garner back at LB because I think Mykolenko is far worse than JOB. Garner behind Grealish will make both of them better and Garner may get more shots. But we wont see that before Gueye is back.Shogun wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:33 pm Crazy to think a man who ended his time here with Baines and Coleman is happy to play O'Brien and Mykolenko as full backs pretty much every match.

Makes us remember why he was loved first time around, then promptly has to remind us why I was done with him by the end.
Re: David Moyes
Baines couldn’t get in the team for a long time so to get him game time moyes used him left mid.Shogun wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:33 pm Crazy to think a man who ended his time here with Baines and Coleman is happy to play O'Brien and Mykolenko as full backs pretty much every match.

He should start doing that with aznou.
He’s probably well off it physically but those minutes Rohl has had out wide recently would be much better used on Aznou.
Hope we at least get him a loan this window.
Re: David Moyes
When he first came the first time round I remember a few years of having a brilliant calendar season followed by a shite one.
If the pattern holds true then we've a long 12 months ahead of us.
But, this time next year we'll begin a push for Europe at least!

Re: David Moyes
This. He reeled us in and after the Forest game thought he’d seen the light and we were moving forwards. Then reverted to type and now back to dithering Dave who has no Plan B and doesn’t seem to want to try one either.

Re: David Moyes
Making subs in 80+ minutes gets you headless chickens running about trying to get into the game. Genuine subs, change games. Moyes does the former and has 2 chickens

Re: David Moyes
I probably jinxed it by writing the above before a very crap home defeat and a very crap home draw against on paper the worst team in the league.toffee_scot wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 3:51 pm I can’t believe it’s nearly been a full year since he became manager again.
Fair play to him in what he’s achieved during this time, especially the amount of points we’ve accumulated with a team that is arguably poorer in quality compared to what he worked with between 2007 to 2013.
Of course there have been some frustrations with some substitutions, starting lineups, a few disappointing results at home etc but no manager is perfect and if you take a step back and reflect then we are most definitely in a much better place now as a club than this time last year.
Both games exposed the most annoying traits of a Moyes run Everton including playing players out of position, subs and completely messing up a good run of fixtures when we had a great chance of climbing comfortably into the top 6.
It doesn’t feel like BMD is really “home” yet?

Now on the sidewalk, Sunday morning,
Lies a club, next the river.
And someone’s conceding from every corner.
Could that someone be Dave the Dither?
Look out Old Davey’s back!

Re: David Moyes
I was up for him to get a new contract if we finished top half of the table this season, but regardless of whether we do or not, I don’t want him here past the end of the season.
He’s very good at certain things and I’m extremely grateful for having had him here, both tenures, but the same flaws and the same problems will definitely hold us back from becoming an established top half, challenging for Europe team. And that should be the immediate goal.
So… so long and thanks for all the fish.

Re: David Moyes
Obviously understand the reactionary anger after the last two games, but he's still doing a good job.
We're in a massive clump of teams who jump up and down the league with one good/bad result. It's incredibly fine margins.
I do think he's struggling to find the right balance for home games, and clearly missing Ndiaye and KDH has made that very hard. We're still a handful of points off 4th position. No need for panic. Just got to get through this period and get our best players back.

Do you want him to be offered a new contract at the end of this season?
