Re: Everton v Sunderland
We really need to adjust our expectations for this season. Top 10 would be a good result compared to last few. Invest in summer. My only concern is, unless we pick up form, we could find ourselves near the bottom. Goal scorers are a big problem

Re: Everton v Sunderland
It’s shame we couldn’t get through and have a chance to get our better players back and make more of a go of it. Clearly though we’re a work in progress and it just doesn’t feel like we’re ready to compete for silverware until we have more quality in the squad.
I’m trying not to be too down on some of the players who got a chance but that was really the main downer of the day, that some of them just don’t look ready. Or some may just need moving on.

Beat Wolves, beat Brentford, we'd of gone 4th - potential maybe a better word than promised.
We didn't, opertunity wasted.
Big part of elite sport is taking your chances when presented, our current strikers fluffed their penalty kicks

We wanted to wear it in a cup game and they knew it would be the last one of the season.

Aye, but this is a good place to vent.UnsyisaRhino wrote: Its his choice to question it tbf, same logic
And I get why he does, everu post is the forum equivalent of screaming into a pillow.
It's better than going downstairs and venting at your partner or family. In here it's just words.
Everyone reacts differently.

Yes, because it means we'd have won something in the last 6000 years777Kidnappings wrote: Would we not all prefer that?

This is why basically all players for all clubs now do stutter penalties btw. The conversion rate is higher with longer waits and stutter runs -

As soon as I wrote it , I knew it was going to get that response, I understand it too. Winning something yes but going out to Macclesfield no.
But was mainly aimed at the total explosion of hate in here.
It was shite , we've been poor but imagine if , we got knocked out by a non League team after winning it
Shocks happen too in the cup , but are result wasn't a shock..

I’ve really got to say this, Trowel: The Everton 4th kit is available from Everton One. That’s all.

Think youve got to be a confident taker though. It just over complicates things for our gaggle of moronsBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 3:47 pm This is why basically all players for all clubs now do stutter penalties btw. The conversion rate is higher with longer waits and stutter runs -

Re: Everton v Sunderland
Well, that was pretty miserable. Positives, I’m stretching here, but once again we looked better balanced with a genuine RB. Now I’m sorry I used the plural as there wasn’t much else. Aznou’s little cameo? I understand people’s anger and despair, personally feel we are in year one of a 3 year rebuild.
Our squad is thin and, for the moment, we appear to have either spent unwisely or bought for the future (these straws I clutch, tut tut). Either way, I have no great expectations for this season, the odd decent result and the odd disaster sprinkled amongst a general level of mediocrity. This is where we are, today we were missing the few creative sparks we have. It’s shite but it’s not worth losing sleep over.
