He won't want until end of season though will he? He'll want 3 years or something and that's just bringing in a player who won't progress us when we are doing fine with what we haveBumble wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 12:35 pm If we can get someone to part with actual money to take Beto off our hands no idea why some people are rubbishing Calum Wilson until the end of the season.
Barry needs help and we need a senior striker who is up to speed with this league to hold the ball up properly and help us start to develop some passages of play in the final third.
Not every signing has to be a medium/long term one. We have had a reasonable start to the season but still have half a season left to push on and get rid of this current doom spiral which has set in with these injuries and poor results.
January Transfer Window

Re: January Transfer Window
Strikers man, strikers. Why can't we find a good one, Lukaku aside.
Tosun, Rondon, Niasse, Maupay, Beto
Sandro, Barry and Kean…we really have been spoiled
35 League goals in total for £135m
Compare to Brentford - Watkins, Toney, Mbeuno, Wissa, Thiago.
238 goals and climbing.
Cost £51m (Thiago £30m of that).
Sales of £189m.
A profit of £138m with Thiago paid for, still on the books.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer.
Other clubs can, why can't we?

Re: January Transfer Window
Is it because he was so shite and finished and old that west ham in the depths of a relegation battle cut him loose and spunked £50m on two new also shit strikers rather than play him?

Said this myself. I still don't know who bought Barry, because I don't think it was Moyes. There are strikers out there, but we seem blind to them

Re: January Transfer Window
Theres no way Wilson is getting 3 years anywhere. Think hes going to struggle to get more than to the end of the season in the premier league. No one is desperate to give him more
Re: January Transfer Window
He only signed a 1 year deal with West ham on an incentive related wage to prove he could contribute. I can't see him suddenly wanting a more conventional longer term contract if he couldn't get anyone to offer him one last summer.
I don't think we should rule out something like this should the opportunity come along to get Beto off the books and not leave us short.

Those type of fans don’t a thanks watch football. They can’t with those shouts
Re: January Transfer Window
Factor the way we play as well.
Make eyes at Thiago all you want but we wouldn’t be playing those balls in behind the defense that he likes anyway.
Barry hasn’t been good but he also goes through long stretches where his only service is aimless whacks from deep with a defender on his back and a midfielder in front of him. The guy you wish we had might be doing better in some other situations but he’d still be up to nothing in those.

Re: January Transfer Window
Strikers always get a rough run in Moyes teams. How many seasons has he had a striker score more than 15?
One for the primary roles of the striker in his system is to be the platform for attacks, and that is usually to the detriment of their goalscoring
We'd be better off with Chris Wood for Moyes but I wouldn't say it was a particularly forward looking approach to sign him lol

Re: January Transfer Window
My biggest hope for the summer (won’t be happening now) is that we find the hard working deep lying playmaker Moyes covets (or used to, at least).
His best teams have had someone like Arteta or Gibson pulling the strings from deep and moving the ball long distances out to the flanks quickly sort of like Xhaka does for Sunderland. A player like that makes the pitch bigger, spaces the defense out, and makes the wide overloads we like extra devastating.
That plus full backs and we suddenly become a very interesting team, with or without Grealish. A midfield three of our new playmaker plus a couple of guys who can pull out wide to link up with wingers and fullbacks. Maybe whoever the striker is can focus on making runs and looking for space in the box rather than battling for nothing balls again.

Re: January Transfer Window
Would be a good signing, but isn’t he a centre back who can fill in at right back?
Re: January Transfer Window
Yeah he's not even remotely what we need... However he is infinitely better at RB than either JOB or Patterson so if we're struggling to find someone this window and we can get him on loan it's not completely awful
