Re: James Garner
I think he’s playing very differently now to how he did earlier in the season and for some older fans, i.e. me, it’s sometimes hard to let go of the image in your head.
Like in my head he is a backwards playing shithouse crab who occasionally does something decent.
Now I’m willing to say that’s way off now, and probably never was true, but earlier in the season it was closer than it is now because he’s improved.
It’s just hard for some of us to make the mental adjustment. Especially if we are only watching MOTD because when we watch live, we lose.

Re: James Garner
Comparison of Garner Vs Wharton, Anderson, Scott and for fun, Rice's last year at West Ham.
Tell you what - he's not as far away from them as I thought, and defensively he comes out very well (plays for a team that are under the cosh a lot but he DOES work them socks off doesn't he). I won't fact check anyone else, but I'd say I do need to reassess myself how I am judging him. He's on a different level to previous years.

Always those who double down in the face of being wrong. Deserved Motm yesterdayEscalator wrote: Agree, there have been some bizarre shouts about the lad.

Been very good and proven many of us wrong. Wouldn't want to bet against him continuing to improve at this point so I will enjoy the great form and hope he can find a way to unlock another level again.
I will say I felt he was a bit lucky he didn't earn himself a second yellow. Rogers went down soft but two hands in the back of an attacker bearing down on goal - could be having a very different conversation.

Re: James Garner
As he is right now he's a top half sitting DM for the premier league so we should definitely extend that contract and he'd happily fit in our squad for years.
He has the technique to play those more creative passes between the lines, switches of play and balls in behind so if he can learn to do that more often he'll kick on to that next level

Re: James Garner
He's definitely improved a fair bit as a player, but I would still say Wharton is well clear of him and could walk into most midfields in world football.
Anderson is being slowly ruined by Dyche, so there's been a significant drop off from him in recent weeks/months.

We’ll be the mugs paying him £120k a week for 5 years!
Re: James Garner
Think I’d let another team pay him 120k a week.
We’ll be more than doubling his current wages at that rate.

Re: James Garner
If we’re pearl-clutching at paying our better players £125k p/w, then what are we even doing?
