Happy to pay him around £80k - £90k a week, think that's a fair wage and keeps us from having someone on relatively high wages that maybe hasn't fully demonstrated yet that we should pay them top dollar (for us) over a lengthy contract.

Don't mind giving another contract for more after another 2 years of consistent performance and development.

Coming from an entirely neutral place - what level of player do you get for £120k a week?

I don’t rate this fella half as much as some but you’ve gotta see the sense in cashing in from a PSR perspective. Would t he be almost pure profit if he’s into his last year?

For us, 120k a week is your absolute top tier, game changer players.

He isn’t that for me.

As good as he is, I still think we should be looking to have better in the middle when we can and have him as the 12th man really.

Maybe he is going up a level though and three years under Lampard and dyche got the worst out of him.

Depends on if you think he’s one of our best players or not.

More than happy to pay Ndiaye it, but not garner.

And here yiu are putting made up finances on a player again rather than be thankful he’s playing well….
Also when we’re trying to build something solid and progress why do people want to sell off all our better players ? And buy what..?
PS I got slayed earlier in this thread for even suggesting he should be getting a look in at the England squad…

I think £125k is about right for his profile, age, Englishness etc and I don't even rate him that much.

Even if he doesn't continue to improve and stays at this level, he'll still be very sellable in the coming years for a more than decent fee.

I think that's the point a lot have been missing on him and others.

Moyes has played a part in improving a number of our players already after 12 months (even the long game with O'Brien - despite being average and out of position, he's showing growth in other skills that will ultimately help him when he's inevitably moved into the middle)

Most of them are better than they've shown, they've been largely stifled, or not had the appropraite structures around them to even look like they're functional, let alone look good.

I think in 2 years even with the same players we'd show further signs of growth, but hopefully we get a few more upper level players in before then.

You could argue a defensive midfielder who protects a 1-0 win is as much a game changer as a striker, you need quality throughout your team.

I suggested a few weeks ago that 75k pw max was sensible, but if he maintains his recent standards until the end of the season, putting him on par with the 1st team's top earners isn't out of the question.

Give him time to justify it over the full season, we still have the 1 year extension in our pocket, his value will be clearer then.

Not a bad vid, although the lad’s voice wouldn’t be out of place dubbing a 70’s kung-fu flick

Don't think you can argue much with giving him the contract based on this season. Not sure if this season is a one off or this is now his level but when Gueyes age finally catches up with him we will be down a midfielder as it is

It's the going rate for a proven PL midfielder in his prime, purely because the other option is him running his contract down and getting a big signing on bonus somewhere else.

First contract after being prem proven is a massive boost, it's why Ndiaye is only on 45k a week and Branthwaite is on 120k a week even though they're both a similar level of quality
