I still maintain that his movement was one of the best in the world and he found himself in so many goalscoring situations that even with his poor finishing he would put up 15+ goals
he was great at pulling defenders towards him allowing space for his teammates to get in space aside and ahead of defenders
most effective at city when he played regularly there
pity his finishing wasnt tip top

It appears Sterling is one of those where the magic has left him early. Peaked early, was incredible in that period, but hes not any more for whatever reason.

Yeah I do think he’s finished like.

If I was villa I’d probably have a look? No need for us to make that mistake though.

Total waste of time , as to me its pretty clear we are not buying no one, and these guys behind the scenes are useless

Moyes already said that a few weeks ago that there probably wouldn't be much going on so it shouldn't really be a surprise.

Do we desperately need anyone? We still need places but January is notoriously difficult to buy and unless someone came up at decent value that would improve us then I've no problem with us waiting until summer to get players in. After the last few seasons I think any of us would have taken 8-12th and been fairly happy with that platform to build from.

Agree, but with a couple of nuances!

It's a World Cup year, so while January is a difficult month, there tend to be certain players pushing for game time - even on loan. There'll obviously be a lot of competition for them, though.

8-12th would be great, but we're in that bracket now and it's very tight. If we'd be scratting around 15th or so and made it to 11th, say, at the end of the season, we'd be pleased.

But to be a few points off the European places, it feels like a couple of timely reinforcements in key areas could really propel us up the league - or at least cement our position.

Upgrades on one or two of McNeil, Mykolenko, Beto and Patterson (although he's been alright recently) for their respective roles in the squad - even just to tide us over to the summer - would make a huge difference to us.

the more we push up the league , the better chance of a better player turning to us next year, we are desp on flanks and any loans would be hugely beneficial but we do not have any seroius operators behind the scenes, i also think it is teh glaringly obvs flanks ( wingers and fullbacks and pace ) that we are end up doing so badly at hoem where we cant really sit in all game as we do away.

From todays presser.
On the prospect of making any additions to his squad between now and the end of the January transfer window on Monday (7pm GMT), Moyes said: "I'd like to say we're out there looking and I think I've said in every press conference – we're certainly looking and it's not that we're shying away from it.

"I would say it's probably less likely than likely [to bring someone in].
